Convention Report – ‘Dimensions 2015’

Hello everyone! 🙂

As I mentioned in a previous post on my blog, I’ve been away for the weekend attending the ‘Doctor Who’ convention ‘Dimensions 2015’ in Newcastle. It was a three-day convention, but I attended the Saturday only. This was because Newcastle was a long way from Cardiff and I wanted to save money.

Also Sarah Sutton who plays Nyssa, my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion, was attending that Saturday and I especially wanted to see her. I was also looking forward to seeing the other stars including Colin Baker; Nicola Bryant; Mark Strickson; Daphne Ashbrook; Maureen O’Brien; etc.

Here is a little report of how the day went.

I had a nice time seeing the stars of ‘Doctor Who’ as well as meeting the fans who were very nice to meet. I met and caught up with old friends like Richard Harris and Richard Green. I also got to meet Elinor Ekman from Sweden in person who I’d been chatting to online and is very nice to meet.

First on Saturday, I got to say hello to lovely Sarah Sutton during breakfast which was nice. I enjoyed seeing Sarah again and she was very nice to me. She told me “I can always rely on you, Tim” which was very kind of her. I enjoyed having photos; a signing session and seeing a panel talk with her.

It was very nice to see Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) and Nicola Bryant (Peri) together. Colin told me he enjoyed his trip to the ‘Doctor Who Experience’ last weekend on Saturday and Nicola told me I had a lovely smile which was very kind of her. I got to have my photos with Colin and Nicola on the day.

I was pleased to see Mark Strickson (Turlough). Mark now lives in Scotland with his family and it was nice chatting to him about what he’s doing these days. It was also nice to meet Maureen O’Brien (Vicki) who I’d never met before. I was star-struck by her, but she wished me a nice weekend.

It was also very nice to meet Daphne Ashbrook (Grace) who I chatted to during signings and had a photo with her. Daphne was great to meet and she said I was ‘so cute’ when signing the DVD cover of ‘The TV Movie’ for me. I’m very pleased I’ve managed to meet Daphne at a convention.

I had a group photo with the four companions Sarah; Daphne; Mark and Maureen at the convention on Saturday which was very nice.

I also met other guests at the event including Jacqueline King (Sylvia, Donna Noble’s mum); Trevor Cooper and Colin Spaull (who appeared in ‘Revelation of the Daleks’); Big Finish people including Lisa Bowerman (Bernice Summerfield) and Shane Rimmer (who voiced Scott Tracy in ‘Thunderbirds’).

I enjoyed ‘Dimensions 2015’ on Saturday. Saying that however, this will be the last time I’ll be going to ‘Dimensions’ in future. I’d like to save money for conventions next year and it is a long way to get to Newcastle from Cardiff.

I’m hoping to be attending conventions some time in 2016 and hopefully see lovely Sarah Sutton again. In the meantime, feel free to see my photos of ‘Dimensions 2015’ here in this post.

Bye for now.

Tim. 🙂

I agree, it was very interesting to read your post, Tim. Sounds (and looks) liked you had a wonderful time, and lots of interesting people to talk with. You got very close to that Dalek!

I didn’t realise Mark Strickson lived in Scotland, either; I thought he was still living in NZ.

Thanks both. Glad you enjoyed my post. It was a nice weekend. I’m glad I saw Sarah; Mark; Nicola; Colin; Daphne and Maureen at that convention.

Sarah happened to mention in ‘Pandorica 2015’ that Mark had moved back to the UK and it was while I was chatting to him that he said he’d moved back to Scotland due to family commitments there.

Glad you like my pictures including the ones with the Daleks. Thanks. Tim. 🙂
