Day 18 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2015

Hello everyone! 🙂

It’s Day 18 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2015.

They’re scary; they’re cold-blooded; they’re without feeling or emotion. The Borg from ‘Star Trek’ are like these guys. They’re silver; made of steel and are my second favourite ‘Doctor Who’ monster!

Yes! It’s the Cybermen! These metal monsters will take you and convert you into one of them for the ultimate upgrade! These monsters terrified me when I first saw them in ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ in 2006. They’ve changed a lot, but they’re still one of my favourites from ‘Doctor Who’.

My favourite versions of the Cybermen are the 2006 retro designs from the Russell T. Davies era of ‘Doctor Who’. They’ve recently upgraded with new Cybermen in ‘Doctor Who’ from ‘Nightmare in Silver’, but I’m not as fond of those Cybermen as they don’t seem scary enough for me in the series.

I like it when the Cybermen stomp about with their metal boots and have their famous catchphrase of ‘Delete!’ in the series. The concept of the Cybermen is pretty terrifying as you lose all sense of identity and get all your emotions surgically removed with technological upgrades planted into you.

My favourite Cybermen TV stories include ‘The Invasion’; ‘Earthshock’; ‘Rise of the Cybermen’/’The Age of Steel’ and ‘Army of Ghosts’/’Doomsday’. My favourite Cybermen audio stories include ‘Spare Parts’; ‘The Reaping’ and ‘Human Resources’. I hope to post reviews on some Cybermen stories soon.

The Cybermen have appeared in their own Christmas special called ‘The Next Doctor’ with David Tennant and David Morrissey which was shown on Christmas Day in 2008. The Cybermen are one of my favourites from ‘Doctor Who’, though I wouldn’t like to be one of them and lose all my emotions.

Thanks for reading.

Bye for now.

Tim. 🙂
