Hello everyone! 🙂
It’s Day 23 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2015’.
As well as ‘The Lord of the Rings’, there is another fantasy series that I love. Not by the same author, but the two gentlemen were good friends and this was a fantasy book series written for children.
‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ is another great series set in the fantasy world of Narnia. The books were by C.S. Lewis who wrote seven novels in that world. I’ve read all seven books of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ and have enjoyed them. ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ is my favourite Narnia book.
The Narnia books have been adapted for TV and film in various forms. ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ was adapted for TV by the BBC along with ‘Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ and ‘The Silver Chair’. This BBC children’s drama series made in 1989-91 was great to watch.
There have also been movies of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ made by Disney/Fox including ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, ‘Prince Caspian’ and ‘The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’. These are my favourite versions of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ and they’re great to watch before Christmas comes.
‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ are special for me. As I’m a Christian, there are parallels between Aslan’s sacrifice in ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ to Jesus’ death on the cross. I highly recommend these books as I found them enjoyable to read in one go back in 2006; 2007 and 2008.
I enjoyed watching ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ film when it was on at the cinemas in 2005 as it was such an epic experience. I wish there were more ‘Narnia’ films made since they seemed to have died out sadly. I hope to post DVD reviews on ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ films soon.
Thanks for reading.
Bye for now!
