Hello everyone! 🙂
I’ve come back from my weekend away to Weston-super-Mare! For the August Bank Holiday weekend, I attended the ‘Stars of Time Film and Comic Con 2016 @ The Tropicana’. Previously, I attended the ‘Stars of Time Film and Comic Con 2016’ at the Helicopter Museum back in May 2016.
I had a fantastic time seeing my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars, including Sarah Sutton (Nyssa); Peter Davison (The Fifth Doctor) and Colin Baker (The Sixth Doctor). I’ve also had a great time reuniting with old friends who I’ve met before at conventions as well as making new ones at the convention.
Here are some highlights of an enjoyable day attending the convention for me!
It was a two-day event, but I attended only on Sunday the 28th of August 2016. The morning was pretty busy with so many attendees at the event. I admit I found the morning hard-going at first, but later on it got better in the afternoon as I found many nice surprises whilst I was seeing the guests.
I had a nice time seeing Sarah, Colin and Peter at the convention. I saw them four times during the day. I had photos taken with them, had items including CD covers, DVD covers and photos signed by them and I got to chat with them during the day. Sarah, Colin and Peter all know my name! WOW!!!
It was the fifth time I saw Peter at a convention. Peter shaved his beard off in the time I saw him between the ‘Worcester Comic Con’ and the ‘Stars of Time @ The Tropicana’ event. Peter told me that he had grown a beard for an acting part, but in the end it was abandoned and he didn’t need the beard anymore. I also got to ask Peter about his role as the Dish of the Day in the TV version of ‘The Hitch-hikers’ Guide To The Galaxy’.
It was lovely to see Sarah again who I had lots of time to chat to during the day. We enjoyed sharing about the ‘Doctor Who’ stories she’d done for Big Finish. Sarah had listened to ‘The Peteroo Massacre’ on the way to Weston-super-Mare. We enjoyed chatting how much we liked that story. I also shared with Sarah about what I’m doing with my ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and she was pleased that it’s going from strength to strength.
I enjoyed seeing Colin again, who is very amusing and entertaining to listen to. One of the pleasures of seeing Colin was asking him to sign ‘The Twin Dilemma’ DVD cover for me. I shared with Colin how much I didn’t mind his debut story in ‘Doctor Who’ and he was pleased to hear to it and said thanks.
I also gave updated ‘Doctor Who Timelines’ to Sarah Sutton and Peter Davison on Nyssa and the Fifth Doctor. Sarah was pleased to have her new version of ‘Nyssa’s Timeline’ given to her by me. I also gave ‘The Sixth Doctor’s Timeline’ at the convention to Colin and he was very impressed with it.
At the convention, I had my photo taken of me inside the Delorean time machine car from the ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy. The photo came with a certificate of time-travel. I’m so glad I had my photo taken in the Delorean car.
I showed my ‘Back to the Future’ photo to Sarah Sutton. She was impressed, saying that I suit well inside the Delorean car. She even wrote my name in the ‘THIS IS TO CERTIFY’ box for me. I wasn’t expecting that and it was very sweet of her. 😀
Here are some photos of me inside the Delorean car and of the certificate signed by Sarah Sutton.
I also had some photos of me and Sarah Sutton kindly taken by a good friend called James Kitto, who is also a professional photographer and also took photos of Sarah at the ‘Pandorica 2015’ convention last year. It was a nice surprise and it was good to catch up with James and Ali Hoswell at the event.
With kind permission, here are the photos of me and Sarah taken by James Kitto on the day.
I also took some photos of some Daleks and some many superhero cosplay characters who were attending the event. I also took a photo of Bumblebee from the ‘Transformers’ movies by Michael Bay; a photo of the Barricade car from ‘Transformers’ and of the Lightning McQueen car from ‘Cars’.
I was also pleased to meet someone at the convention who has been following my ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog called Carl (I hope I’ve got your name right, Carl). He shared how much he liked my Sarah Sutton interview from 2015 and the autographs that I’ve added to my reviews. So, thanks Carl!
I’m also pleased to have met fellow fans who I’ve become friends with, including Ishvar as the Fifth Doctor (who has recently found my blog) and Rachel Cartwright as Tegan Jovanka from Season 20.
The ‘Stars of Time Film and Comic Con @ The Tropicana’ has been a great day out in Weston-super-Mare for me! The afternoon was better than the morning for me, as I got to see Sarah, Colin and Peter more with lesser crowds. I enjoyed the exchanges I had with Sarah that day and the nice surprises that were in store.
I’m rather sad that the last two weekends have come and gone very quickly as I enjoyed seeing Sarah Sutton and Peter Davison at both events. I hope to see Sarah Sutton again soon at another convention and hope to enjoy more exchanges with her, as I do enjoy her as Nyssa in ‘Doctor Who’!
By the way, I’ve updated some ‘Doctor Who’ reviews with new signed CD/DVD covers and photos with the stars. They include ‘Black Orchid’ (TV); ‘Spare Parts’ (Audio) and ‘The Twin Dilemma’ (TV).
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim. 🙂
You sat in the freaking Delorean………..omg…….faints.
Hang on…..you actually sat in the Delorean as in sitting inside…….collapses.
Anyway great pics of your day out mate, i like the Transformer pics & nice pics of you with Colin, Sarah & Peter.
I liked the Marvel costumes, I’d been thrown out because I’d have had to have tried on the outfits lol.
Looked a fun filled day.

Yes, I know! I just had to get a ride in the Delorean car as I saw it so many times at conventions and I didn’t get to sit in it. I’m pleased I had my photo taken of me inside the Delorean on the day! I was thrilled to see the inside of the car with the controls, the flux capacitor and everything.
I’m equally pleased Sarah Sutton penned my name into the certificate of my photo in the Delorean. I wasn’t expecting that and it was really nice of her to do that for me.
Glad you liked my photos of the day, Simon. I really had a great time. The afternoon was better than the morning for me! I’m glad you like my Transformers pics and the ones with me, Sarah, Colin and Peter on the day. It was thrilling to see those ‘Doctor Who’ stars that day!
Glad you like the Marvel costume cosplayers. I’m afraid I wasn’t able to get a good one of Spider-Man as the sun was shining so brightly and I didn’t have the camera on the right setting with the flash off. Better luck next time, hey?
I didn’t realise me sitting in the Delorean would affect you so much. 😀
Thanks for your comments, Simon. Glad you enjoyed my post and photos of the convention.
