Day 16 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016

Hello everyone! 🙂

It’s Day 16 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016.

What do the Key to Time and Tom Baker have in common?

Mary Tamm, the actress who played the first Romana in ‘Doctor Who’. Christmas is when we get to spend time with family and share gifts to each other. But Christmas is also a sad time for many who have lost loved ones and it’s so good to remember those people have been so dear to us in our lives.

This video by Babelcolour is a tribute to Mary Tamm, who sadly passed away in July 2012. I miss Mary Tamm from ‘Doctor Who’. I enjoyed seeing her in ‘The Key to Time’ season with Tom Baker’s Doctor in 1978-79. Mary also did some Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ as Romana before she died.

I wish I could have met Mary at ‘Doctor Who’ conventions, as she seemed a lovely lady and I heard some good things about her. I’m glad Mary was one of the six ‘Doctor Who’ companions for the ‘WHO Girls Calendar 2013’ which was released in 2012. I also chatted with Sarah Sutton about Mary Tamm.

The tribute video contains the song ‘One by One’ performed by Enya, who also performed two songs for ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. It’s a beautiful song and it helps us to remember amazing stars like Mary Tamm, Nicholas Courtney, Elisabeth Sladen and Caroline John.

For me, Mary Tamm was my favourite actress to play Romana, the Time Lady companion in ‘Doctor Who’. She deserves to be known as the noblest Romana of them all. I cherish fond memories of watching Mary Tamm in ‘The Key to Time’ TV season and hearing her in the Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’.

Thanks for watching and reading!
