Day 21 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016

Hello everyone! 🙂

It’s Day 21 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016.

What do ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ have in common?

Not just Sylvester McCoy who played Radagast the Brown in ‘The Hobbit’, but Peter Jackson! Would it be great if Peter Jackson, director of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, directed an episode of ‘Doctor Who’? It seems too good to be true if it were to happen, wouldn’t it?!

Last year, Peter Jackson released a video on his Facebook page that seems to confirm that he is going to direct an episode of ‘Doctor Who’. It’s an enjoyably funny video where PJ and his daughter Katie are in their house one weekend and receive a visit from…Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.

I honestly didn’t see it coming when the Doctor just walked into Peter Jackson’s house and gave him something from head writer Steven Moffat to come and direct an episode of ‘Doctor Who’. The way the scene is played out is so funny, especially when PJ’s so deadpan about Peter Capaldi in his house.

It was so funny when the video concludes with another unexpected visitor in Peter Jackson’s house that’s chasing after Peter Capaldi’s Doctor. I didn’t see that either and it was funny when PJ and his daughter Katie are oblivious to it. Peter Jackson is clearly a ‘Doctor Who’ fan as well as a Tolkien fan!

Peter Jackson also appeared in the ‘Doctor Who’ comedy special ‘The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot’ by Peter Davison. I’m not sure whether it’s true that PJ is going to direct an episode of ‘Doctor Who’ for the series in 2017. I’ll believe it when I see it, but I look forward to seeing an episode directed by PJ!

Thanks for watching and reading!
