Day 22 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016

Hello everyone! 🙂

It’s Day 22 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016.

What do Murray Gold’s ‘Doctor Who’ music and rock music have in common?

VayleMystery on YouTube! My introduction to ‘Doctor Who’ came from the new series with Christopher Eccelston and David Tennant. I also enjoyed listening to the incidental music provided by composer Murray Gold for the episodes of the new series and soon purchased the CDs of this music.

Today’s video is an ‘ultimate cover’ of two pieces of incidental music from the new series of ‘Doctor Who’ composed by VayleMystery. It is a rock version of the incidental music for ‘Doomsday’ and ‘This is Gallifrey’. I enjoyed listening to these rock versions of the two pieces as they’re so well-put together.

This is ‘Doctor Who’ music that’s familiar to anyone who loves the David Tennant era of the series. I must have heard the ‘Doomsday’ and ‘This is Gallifrey’ music over and over again and that includes both the original and the rock versions of the music. They were also pieces performed at the ‘Doctor Who Proms’ in 2008.

VayleMystery is an amazing rock-guitar artist! I’ve enjoyed his ‘Doctor Who’ music videos on YouTube. He’s also done rock versions of Eleventh Doctor music, which includes ‘I am the Doctor’, ‘The Pandorica Speech’ and music from Series 7 as a tribute to celebrate 50 years of ‘Doctor Who’ in 2013.

The ‘Doomsday and This is Gallifrey’ music video was my first encounter with VayleMystery. As well as ‘Doctor Who’ music videos, he’s also done a music video on ‘Star Wars’, ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Spider-Man 2’. It has been great fun listening to rock versions of music from my favourite films and TV shows.

Thanks for watching and reading!
