Day 23 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016

Hello everyone! 🙂

It’s Day 23 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2016.

What do cheese and inventions have in common?

Wallace & Gromit of course! I love this duo of a man and his dog from the world of Aardman Animations! Back when I was a kid, I was convinced they were real. I enjoyed their adventures from their first three adventures in the 90s to their movie in 2005 to their latest Christmas special in 2008!

For today, here’s one of ‘Wallace & Gromit’s Cracking Contraptions’ episodes called ‘The Autochef’. I discovered ‘Wallace & Gromit’s Cracking Contraptions’ series via the 2-disc DVD of ‘Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’. I loved seeing these mini-shorts featuring this amazing duo.

‘The Autochef’ is one of my favourite ‘Cracking Contraptions’ from Wallace & Gromit. I found it funny when Wallace & Gromit try to have their breakfast from this robot chef, who messes up their breakfasts and goes out of control. Fortunately, Gromit manages to save the day with a banana skin.

There are other ‘Cracking Contraptions’ that I like from Wallace & Gromit. These include ‘The Soccermatic’, ‘The Tellyscope’, ‘The Snoozatron’, ‘The Turbo Diner’, ‘The 525 Crackervac’, etc. Many of these contraptions built by Wallace don’t always work and end up in disaster which is very funny.

I look forward to when we see Wallace & Gromit again in any form either TV, film or short. It’s a shame that Peter Sallis, the original actor who voiced Wallace, has retired from acting these years. But you never know! Wallace & Gromit could return in some form or other. I hope in a Christmas special someday.

Thanks for watching and reading!

    Hi Tim

Like you, I love Wallace and Gromit! I think they are great fun, and really funny to watch.

I really like it when they go to the moon to get some cheese. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

Peter Sallis is still with us, although retired from acting, apparently – he is 95 years old now, which is hard to believe!

    Hi Leigh.

Glad you enjoyed this video on Wallace & Gromit for my Advent Calendar. They are great fun and I love seeing them when I can on DVD or TV. I’m looking forward to review ‘The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’, hopefully soon in 2017.

Yes ‘A Grand Day Out’ is a lovely first appearance of Wallace & Gromit when they go to the moon to get some cheese. I remember my parents and I built a rocket out of cardboard so that we can go to the moon as well. 😀

Thank you so much Leigh for letting me know about Peter Sallis. I’m so sorry about that. I don’t know how I came to that conclusion as I got my wires crossed. I’ll amend what I’ve said about him on my blog posts.

Out of my Advent Calendar for 2016, which posts have you enjoyed the most.

Thanks Leigh. Hope to hear from you again soon.

    Tim. 🙂

    Hi Tim

I enjoyed all your advent articles that I read, but I think the ones that really brought back memories for me were my favourites – like Sooty and Sweep, and Wallace & Gromit – all good fun!

The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a great watch, I look forward to your review of it, Tim.
