Tim Bradley with Sarah Sutton – Part 1 (2010-2012)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Today, I’d like to share my memories of meeting the lovely Sarah Sutton, who plays Nyssa in ‘Doctor Who’ at conventions. I’ve decided to do this in three blog posts which will be released each in turn for three weeks. The first blog post contains my memories of meeting Sarah from the years 2010 to 2012.

Here’s a photo gallery of my meetings with Sarah from 2010 to 2012.

The first time that I met Sarah was at the ‘Fifth Element’ convention in Chiswick, London in February 2010. The event was run by Fantom Films. It was an exciting and nerve-tingling experience for me to meet my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion for the first time and to attend my first convention. I had a lovely chat with Sarah and I had my covers for ‘Black Orchid’ and ‘Circular Time’ signed by her.

I next saw Sarah later that year at my second convention, ‘Regenerations 2010’ in Swansea, September 2010. I had more time to see Sarah, as it was a two-day convention and she attended both days. Sarah hoped to see me again after that convention and I was thrilled to bits when she said that.

In 2011, I saw Sarah for the third time at the ‘London Film and Comic Con’ at Earl’s Court, London in July 2011. Sarah recognised me from the previous convention and I was stunned she remembered me. Sarah shared she was going to the ‘Regenerations 2011’ convention in Swansea later that year.

I was also going to that two-day convention and saw Sarah for the fourth time at ‘Regenerations 2011’ in Swansea, September 2011. Sarah said “I like you, Tim!” after I complimented her on her narration of ‘The Darkening Eye’ Companion Chronicle for Big Finish. I felt very good when she said this to me! 😀

The following month, I saw Sarah again at the ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ convention in Chiswick, London in October 2011. This was another event run by Fantom Films. On this occasion, Sarah remembered my name, saying “I’ll never forget you, Tim”. She also told me to ‘never give up’ writing my ‘Doctor Who’ stories.

I saw Sarah again just in time before the end of 2011 at the ‘Fantom Films @ Memorabilia Birmingham’ event in November 2011. I recall that convention well as I had photo shoots with Sarah Sutton, Deborah Watling, Sophie Aldred and Katy Manning on the Sunday of that event. It was also the first time that my cuddly toy dog Cuddles meet Sarah at a convention in Birmingham 😀

In 2012, I saw Sarah twice in the summer period. The first time I saw Sarah was at the ‘Stars of Time’ event at the Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare, July 2012. As well as Sarah, Colin Baker and Frazer Hines were also there. I had my DVD cover of ‘The Moon Stallion’ signed by Sarah on that day.

The second time I saw Sarah in 2012 was at the ‘Collectormania Glasgow 2012’ convention at the Braehead Arena in August 2012. I was on a family holiday to Scotland at the time of that convention and I was very pleased to see Sarah there as well as Colin Baker; David Gooderson (Davros in ‘Destiny of the Daleks’) and many others. Two attendees (Doctorwhoer and demonstap1er) also recorded the panel talk between Sarah, Colin and David at the convention, which I attended, on video. Their videos eventually got shown on YouTube which I enjoyed greatly.

Listen out for me asking a question to Sarah in the first of these four YouTube videos. It was a magical moment for me to hear my voice asking a question to Sarah on the day and to hear her answering it too.

Stay tuned for ‘Part 2’ of my memories meeting Sarah Sutton at conventions next week!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
