Movie Review – ‘Home Alone’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This past week, I saw the movie ‘Home Alone’ which was re-released at Showcase Cinemas in Nantgarw on selected days! I enjoyed seeing this film again at the cinema! I’d seen ‘Home Alone’ before on VHS and DVD. It was very extraordinary to see the film on the big screen for the first time.

‘Home Alone’ was released in 1990 at around Christmas time. Having seen ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ on the big screen, it was exciting to see another Christmas movie at the cinema. I remember every line of this movie. It was fun to see all the moments that I know and love from the film on the big screen.

The screen room was well-attended when I went to see ‘Home Alone’. I didn’t expect to see so many people to attend and watch this film on the big screen. I suppose it’s rare to see ‘Home Alone’ at the cinema, as this was a one-off opportunity. I hope they will do more classic movie screenings like this.

‘Home Alone’ is the story about Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, who gets left behind at home after his family go off on a family vacation to Paris. Initially, Kevin gets to enjoy being ‘home alone’ before he misses his family. He soon deals with Harry and Marv, two criminals, who want to burgle the house.

The film also stars Joe Pesci as Harry and Daniel Stern as Marv. There’s also John Heard as Peter and Catherine O’Hara as Kate, Kevin’s parents. The movie has plenty of laugh-out moments, especially in the second half where Kevin defends the house from the crooks, Harry and Marv, trying to break in.

‘Home Alone’ is a great film to watch at Christmas time. I enjoyed seeing it again on the big screen as it’s rare to see a film like this at the cinema. I hope I’ll get to do a DVD review of the movie sometime soon. I’ve also discovered there’s a novelization of the movie by Todd Strasser. I am serious here! 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
