Quick Blu-ray Review – ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Back in Christmas 2017, my parents and I saw ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ on Blu-ray! Then we saw ‘Mission: Impossible’ & ‘Mission: Impossible III’ on Blu-ray for my Mum’s birthday! Then we saw ‘Mission: Impossible 2’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ on Blu-ray for Mother’s Day!

I’ve enjoyed these ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies. I’m so glad that my parents and I are up-to-date with them. They’ve been fun, action-packed and thrilling to watch. Tom Cruise is engaging as Ethan Hunt and the storylines have been very decent enough, even though I need to see these films again.

‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ is the fourth film in the series and was made in 2011. It links nicely into ‘Rogue Nation’ which I enjoyed very much. The film was also directed by Brad Bird. Wow!!! He was the director of ‘The Incredibles’! So this movie was directed by a Disney/Pixar film director!

In this film, Ethan and his team of IMF agents go to Russia. They get blamed for the bombing of the Kremlin whilst they’re investigating an enemy individual called Cobalt. The heroes have to stop Cobalt from starting a global nuclear war. Will Ethan and the other heroes stop the baddies in India?

I think the films got better by the time we get to ‘Rogue Nation’. ‘Ghost Protocol’ is a pretty good film, as it has an action-packed storyline that’s fairly straight-forward. Like I said, these films require more than one watch to get an understanding of the plot and also to appreciate the realism in the spy world.

As well as Tom Cruise, there’s also Simon Pegg as Benji who comes into his own as being a part of Ethan’s team of spy heroes. There’s also Jeremy Renner who makes his first appearance as William Brandt. There’s also Paula Patton who plays Jane Carter, the female member of Ethan Hunt’s team.

There’s Michael Nygvist as Kurt Hendricks, also known as Cobalt. There’s an uncredited cameo appearance of Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell. Surprised he didn’t take part in this mission like he did in the other movies. There is also an uncredited cameo of Michelle Monaghan as Julia, Ethan’s wife.

‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ has been a pretty good action film. I’m glad I’ve seen all the ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies and ‘Ghost Protocol’ is a pretty decent entry into the film series. I look forward to seeing these films again, so that I can review them in full detail with some more thoughts.

I’m now looking forward to seeing ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ at the cinema this July next!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

    • Hi Simon.

Glad you enjoy the ‘M:I’ movies including this one. I can’t wait to see ‘M:I – Fallout’ next at the cinema. It’ll be quite an exciting experience to see it on the big screen.

Wait a minute. What do you mean this message will self-destruct in 5 seconds. It’s two days since you sent me this message.. (explosion) ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
