Day 8 – Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2018

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Day 8 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2018’.

Do you like Christmas carols? Then you might like this latest photo memory from 2008.

This is a picture of Llandaf Cathedral close to where I work. Sometimes my parents and I would go to this cathedral to attend carol concerts on Christmas Eve. I don’t recall if we did that for the Christmas in 2008, but it’s a really nice place to visit. You can look to see what’s inside the cathedral.

There was one Christmas time when this cathedral was under heavy snow. Back in 2009, I believe. My Dad took a photo of Llandaf Cathedral under all the snow and I used the photo for Chapter 3 of my ‘Doctor Who’ story, ‘The Ghost of Leckwick’, in ‘Merry Christmas From The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy’.

Incidentally, the village up the hill close by to Llandaf Cathedral is the one used as a filming location for Leadworth in the first Matt Smith episode of ‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Eleventh Hour’. My Dad almost walked onto the set of ‘Doctor Who’ when walking home from work. Sadly he didn’t get a cameo. 😦

I have fond memories of this cathedral when I was younger. I recall sitting in the cathedral having to wait before the carol service began. I even recall purchasing and reading a book about ‘finding God’ in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ which was interesting to discover. I believe I’ve still got the book somewhere.

If you happen to like carol singing and you plan to go to a carol service sometime soon at your local church, then I hope you’ll enjoy it and get to discover or re-discover the true message of Christmas in the Nativity story. It’s something I look forward to very much when I am attending a carol concert.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
