Basement News – May 2019

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s the 1st of May today and May is the month for my birthday again! Yippee! My birthday this year will be different compared to how my birthdays have been in previous years. I’m not going to a convention or a comic con for a birthday weekend which is a shame. But I’m sure there’ll be nice surprises to look forward to. Let’s see what’s coming on my blog this May and beyond as well as looking back on what happened recently in April.

April was a good month in releasing my latest ‘Doctor Who’ reviews on Series 11 with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor as well as my review on ‘Resolution’. I’ve also done a new Short Trip on my blog called ‘Hank Prank’, featuring the Thirteenth Doctor, Graham, Ryan and Yaz. Please feel free to check out my new reviews and my new Short Trip featuring the Thirteenth Doctor TARDIS team in ‘Doctor Who’.

I’m currently working on updating my reviews for the Season 18 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ featuring Tom Baker’s Doctor. I also hope to add a review on the brand-new Target audiobook of ‘Warriors’ Gate’ by Steve Gallagher writing as John Lydecker. I hope to write a brand-new updated review on ‘The Macra Terror’ with Patrick Troughton’s Doctor sometime in May. Stay tuned for announcements.

I’m making plans to write a new full-length story in ‘The Fifth Doctor by Tim Bradley’ series called ‘The Prime Factor’, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. I’ll be making a start on writing the story sometime in late May/early June. I hope to post the story sometime in November/December on my blog. Stay tuned for further details. Meanwhile, check out my other stories in my ‘Fifth Doctor’ series.

I’ve reviewed all of the ‘Star Cops’ episodes featured in the TV series and the Big Finish audios on my blog. In April, I posted my reviews on the two ‘Mother Earth’ CD box sets online. The audio episode called ‘Hostage’ features special guest star Sarah Sutton in it. Please feel free to check out; read and comment on my latest ‘Star Cops’ reviews.

I created a new page on my blog about Busby Berkeley and have reviewed five movies in ‘The Busby Berkeley Collection’ on DVD including ’42nd Street’, ‘Gold Diggers of 1933’, ‘Footlight Parade’, ‘Dames’ and ‘Gold Diggers of 1935’. I’m currently watching the BBC TV series of ‘Miss Marple’ starring Joan Hickson. I hope to add my reviews on the twelve stories of that TV series pretty soon.

Regarding movies I’ve seen at the cinema, I saw two in April. The first was the Disney live-action remake of ‘Dumbo’. I also had a ‘Wizard of Oz’ Easter this year since I saw ‘Tom and Jerry: The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Tom & Jerry: Back to Oz’ in the build-up to seeing the actual 1939 film with Judy Garland on the big screen at Showcase Cinemas in Nantgarw. An enjoyable experience for me and my parents!

For films at the cinema in May, I’m looking forward to seeing ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on my birthday which I’ve heard has become a huge box office success already. I also hope to see the biographical film of ‘Tolkien’, the man who created Middle-Earth and also see the Disney live-action remake of ‘Aladdin’. Exciting!

As I mentioned before, Easter happened in April and I celebrated with a Good Friday post about hot cross buns and finished ‘The Gospel of Mark’ blog post series that I started back in January this year. My Easter post for 2019 featured Chapter 16 of ‘The Gospel of Mark’. Check out my blog posts for ‘The Gospel of Mark’ by clicking on the tag link above to discover the full Biblical story of Jesus, son of God.

I also shared my reviews on the Lost Season 23 of ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish featuring Colin Baker’s Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant’s Peri this Easter. The stories include ‘The Nightmare Fair’, ‘Mission to Magnus’, ‘Leviathan’, ‘The Hollows of Time’, ‘Paradise 5’, ‘Point of Entry’, ‘The Song of Megaptera’ and ‘The Macros’. Please feel free to check out; read and comments on my reviews on these stories.

I’ve also started updating my reviews on the ‘Monarch of the Glen’ series and have completed updating my reviews for Series 1. Please feel free to check them out. I’ve currently made a start on re-watching Series 2 and updating my reviews on it. I’ve also started a page on some character profiles for ‘Monarch of the Glen’ with the first one being on Richard Briers as Hector MacDonald.

Regarding books I’m reading, I’ve reviewed ‘Ten Little Aliens’ already and hope to read and review some more ‘Doctor Who’ books including ‘Dreams of Empire’, ‘Players’, ‘Earthworld’, ‘Only Human’, ‘Beautiful Chaos’ and ‘The Silent Stars Go By’. I’ve recently purchased the two ‘Batman’ movie novelizations of ‘Batman Returns’ and ‘Batman & Robin’. I hope I’ll get onto reading those movie novelizations soon.

Check out my latest holiday report to Amroth in April this year! I’ve also done my reviews on Series 2 of the ‘Dad’s Army’ radio series! Please feel free to check those out!  I’ve also created a new ‘Movies’ page on my blog which has now become the home on my review for ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ and the three ‘Beethoven’ movies so far.

I’ll leave it there for ‘Basement News’ in May 2019 and beyond, but keep in tune as there’ll be more exciting reviews and news updates coming along on my blog. I’m looking forward to next week and hope to enjoy my birthday with a movie at the cinema; a meal at a restaurant and what other surprises are in store!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
