Basement News – July 2019

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

July is here and I’ve got a lot to look forward to in the next couple of months. What with movies to see at the cinema; a music concert to look forward to; a ‘Doctor Who’ story I’m currently writing and a convention to look forward to, the next two months should be exciting. Will there be a heatwave to accompany it? 😀

We’re still on-going with the ‘Doctor Who’ marathon I started in June with a look at every new series episode from ‘Rose’ to ‘Resolution’. We’re currently in the David Tennant era and today we’re on ‘Utopia’/’The Sound of Drums’/’Last of the Time Lords’, the three-part season finale of Series 3. Keep in tune to this marathon as we look at the rest of the series each day until October.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming Blu-ray box set releases of two classic ‘Doctor Who’ seasons including Season 10 and Season 23. Season 10 is with Jon Pertwee’s Doctor and features ‘The Three Doctors’, ‘Carnival of Monsters’, ‘Frontier In Space’, ‘Planet of the Daleks’ and ‘The Green Death’. Season 23 is with Colin Baker’s Doctor and features the 14-part epic story ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’. There’s also the animation version of ‘The Faceless Ones’ with Patrick Troughton’s Doctor that I’m looking forward to. Rest assured, I have pre-ordered these upcoming releases and hope to update my reviews based on them soon.

I’m currently in the middle of writing my new ‘Fifth Doctor’ story called ‘The Prime Factor’ featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. Here’s a cover image of the story for you to see. I’ve done ‘Part One’ and hopefully I’ll have finished rewriting the episode by this point. Otherwise, I hope to continue the story this month with ‘Part Two’. This will be a two-part bumper episode story in the same style as ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’.

I’ve read quite a number of ‘Doctor Who’ books recently. I’ve added my reviews on ‘Players’ with the Sixth Doctor and Peri, ‘EarthWorld’ with the Eighth Doctor, Fitz and Anji and ‘Only Human’ with the Ninth Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack. I hope to read and review ‘Beautiful Chaos’ with the Tenth Doctor and Donna and ‘The Silent Stars Go By’ with the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory soon on my blog. My reviews on ‘The Tenth Doctor Adventures – Volume 3’ with David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be added to my blog very soon.

Movies at cinema in June haven’t been so busy as they were in May for me. But I have seen ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ and ‘Toy Story 4’ at the cinema and enjoyed them. I’m currently looking forward to seeing ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and the Disney live-action remake of ‘The Lion King’ next at the cinema in July. I’m also hoping to add my reviews on the ‘Miss Marple’ BBC TV drama series with Joan Hickson to my blog as well as make a start on reviewing the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Phase Three: Part 1. Stay tuned!

I’ve also updated my reviews on Series 2 of ‘Monarch of the Glen’ as well as added my reviews on Series 4 of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. I’m currently in the process of updating my reviews on Series 3 of ‘Monarch’ and adding my reviews on Series 5 of ‘All Creatures’ as we speak.

I’ve made some tributes to three ‘Blake’s 7’ actors who have recently passed away including Paul Darrow, Gareth Thomas and Jacqueline Pearce. I hope to add a quick DVD box set review on Series 3 of ‘Blake’s 7’ sometime soon when I come to complete my watching of it.

I’ll stop there now as I’m sure I’ve missed something out. But I want to keep you in suspense on what happens in July this year on my blog. Hopefully I’ll share more details about what else is to come for this month and beyond in 2019. I’m currently excited about July and August as they’ll be exciting months for me. 😀

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
