Basement News – October 2019

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Welcome to October! The year 2019 is going by pretty quickly, isn’t it? There’s still plenty to entertain you with on my blog. I’ve got stories and reviews in the pipeline and they’re coming together rather slowly. But hopefully they’ll be up on my blog before the year is over and we move straight into 2020.

If you haven’t picked up already, I’ve celebrated 4 years of my blog at the end of September 2019! I celebrated by doing a review on ‘The Moon Stallion’ novelization/audiobook with a video introduction sketch featuring me and Sarah Sutton as well as a review on the ‘Doctor Who’ audio adventure ‘A Life of Crime’ with a video introduction sketch featuring me and Sophie Aldred. Please feel free to check those out! 😀

The ‘Doctor Who’ marathon is reaching its conclusion this month. We’re now in Jodie Whittaker territory as we explore Series 11 before getting to the 2019 New Year’s Day Special called ‘Resolution’. This is all before Series 12 of ‘Doctor Who’ begins in January 2020 which I’m very excited about. Today, I’ve shared my review on the episode ‘The Tsuranga Conundrum’. Stay tuned for the rest of the marathon.

This month, I’ll be sharing my updated reviews on the Season 10 stories of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee via the latest Blu-ray box set release. This will be after the ‘Doctor Who’ marathon is finished. I also hope to add my updated reviews on Season 23 (‘The Trial of a Time Lord’) with Colin Baker, based on the Blu-ray box set release now coming out this month instead of September. I’m also looking forward to when the Season 26 Blu-ray box set with Sylvester McCoy comes out in December 2019.

Regarding the ‘Fifth Doctor’ stories and ‘Short Trips’ I add to my blog; I hope to upload ‘The Prime Factor’ with the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy very soon for a November release. I’m also in the process of writing two short stories for a fan anthology. I’ve done one so far and I’m currently doing the second one. I also hope to write a ‘Short Trip’ featuring the Fourth Doctor to add to my blog at the end of the year.

I’m already in the process of preparing my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for December 2019. I’ve read two short story collections already and I’m looking forward to hearing the latest Big Finish audios featuring Nyssa coming out this year. I’m pleased to hear the news that there’s a new Short Trip audio featuring Nyssa and the Fifth Doctor and it’s being read by Sarah Sutton called ‘Downward Spiral‘ coming out in July 2020.

Sadly, we’ve have the passing of ‘Doctor Who’ legend Terrance Dicks this year. Check out my tribute for the man who script-edited ‘Doctor Who’ during the majority of Jon Pertwee’s era as well contributing other stories in TV and book form. On a positive note, I’ve shared my latest convention memories on ‘Regenerations 2011’. Stay tuned for my next convention memories post on the ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ event from October 2011 this month.

My latest book review has been on the movie novelization of ‘Batman Returns’. I’ve also reviewed the ‘Doctor Who’/’Mr. Men’ book ‘Dr. Fourth’ via YouTube. I’m currently reading the movie novelization of ‘Batman & Robin’. I hope to review that book on my blog sometime soon this month. I’m also hoping to read ‘The Hobbit’ by J. R. R. Tolkien next before I get onto reading ‘Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover’, the prequel novel to the ‘Spider-Man’ PS4 game. I’m very pleased about the news that Spider-Man is back in the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ series for a third movie. Check out my thoughts on ‘The Future of Spider-Man and the ‘MCU’ from August before the good news happened in September.

For the past six weeks, I’ve recently updated and extended my reviews on the ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films, based on the 30-disc Blu-ray box set. Please feel free to check them out. I don’t know what my next set of movie reviews will be on, but stay tuned! I’m sure you’ll find out! 😀

Check out my latest quick DVD review on the Disney live-action remake of ‘The Jungle Book’ (2016) and my review on the ‘Downton Abbey’ movie. Also check out my latest Disney DVD review on the 1942 film ‘Bambi’. Regarding cinema, ‘A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’ is coming out this month. It’s likely though I’ll be seeing that movie with my parents for my Dad’s birthday in November 2016. I’m also looking forward to seeing re-releases of ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’ in November and ‘Elf’ in December at the local Showcase Cinema in Nantgarw.

I’m currently watching a children’s TV series called ‘The Demon Headmaster’ on DVD, lent to me by Stephen, my best mate from school. It stars Terrence Hardiman and Tessa Peake-Jones. I’m really enjoying it! I hope to add a quick DVD review on the series soon. I also hope to review the ‘Doctor Who’ audio story ‘The Legacy of Time’ and the ‘Rose Tyler: The Dimension Canon’ box set very soon.

I’m currently waiting to hear news of another convention to go to. Otherwise, I hope you’ll enjoy what I share on my blog for October 2019 and beyond. The fifth year of ‘Bradley’s Basement’ has already begun and I hope you’ll enjoy what’s to come in terms of reviews, stories and hopefully ‘Doctor Who Timelines’. Those are still constantly being updated in case you want to know. 😀

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
