Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s Day 4 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019’.
It’s time to remember a ‘Doctor Who’ companion that I’m pleased to have met at conventions.
In July 2017, we sadly lost Deborah Watling who played Victoria Waterfield, companion of Patrick Troughton’s Second Doctor. It’s sad to think about dear Debbie Watling this way. I enjoyed meeting her at conventions and I’m very saddened she’s not around anymore as I would like to see her again.
I first saw Debbie Watling at the ‘Regenerations 2010’ convention in Swansea, September 2010. I saw her again at the ‘Regenerations 2011’ convention in Swansea, September 2010. It wasn’t until the ‘Fantom Films @ Memorabilia Birmingham’ event in November 2011 that I actually got to meet Debbie and chat to her. I’m happy I did. Debbie came across as very friendly when I met her.
I saw Debbie at more conventions after that! They include ‘Project Motor Mouth 2’ in Slough, August 2013; ‘Regenerations 2013’ in Swansea, September 2013, ‘Dimensions 2013’ in Newcastle, October 2013, ‘Time Warp’ in Weston-super-Mare, July 2014, ‘Pandorica 2015’ in Bristol, September 2015 and ‘Regenerations 2016’ in Swansea, September 2016. They were good times with seeing Debbie Watling.
Debbie signed a number of items for me when I saw her at conventions. These include the CD covers for ‘The Evil of the Daleks’ TV soundtrack and the two Big Finish audio adventures ‘The Great Space Elevator’ and ‘Power Play’. Debbie also signed my original DVD cover for ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’.
I’ve also had an A4 print of ‘The Enemy of the World’ artwork by Alistair Pearson signed by Debbie Watling. I’m glad I’ve met Debbie at conventions and even wrote for Victoria in one of my ‘Doctor Who’ fan-fiction stories called ‘The Robots of Lonmar’. I look back with fond memories meeting Debbie.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
