Day 11 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019

It’s Day 11 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019.

It’s time to talk about a ‘Doctor Who’ companion who I was stumped for words upon first meeting. 😀

Nicola Bryant plays Peri, companion to Peter Davison and Colin Baker’s Doctors in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series as well as in the Big Finish audios. The first time I met Nicola was at the two-day ‘Time Warp’ convention in Weston-super-Mare, July 2014. When I first met Nicola, I was nervous and in awe of her.

I didn’t know what to say when I first met Nicola during a signing session. Thankfully, on the second day of the convention, I was able to say something and had a lovely chat with Nicola. She turned out to be friendly and lovely. I enjoyed chatting to Nicola as I shared my enjoyment of her in ‘Doctor Who’.

Other times I’ve seen Nicola at conventions include the ‘Bournemouth Film & Comic Con’, August 2015; ‘Dimensions 2015’, Newcastle, October 2015 and the ‘London Film & Comic Con’ in July 2017. I would like to see Nicola again at another convention. The times that I’ve seen her have been pleasant.

Nicola has signed a number of items for me at conventions over the years. This includes the DVD cover for ‘The Two Doctors’ as well as the CD covers for ‘The Reaping’, ‘Recorded Time and Other Stories’, ‘1963: The Space Race’; ‘Trouble In Paradise’ from the ‘Destiny of the Doctor’ series and ‘Breaking Bubbles and Other Stories’. Nicola has also signed my VHS cover of ‘TravelWise’ as well as my copy of ‘The Light At The End’. I’ve also had a signed photo of Nicola as Peri from ‘The Two Doctors’.

I’m lucky to have met Nicola at conventions. I’m also very happy to have seen her as Peri in the TV stories she’s been in as well as hear her in the Big Finish audios she’s done. Again, I would like to see Nicola at another convention sometime soon as she always comes across friendly in the times I’ve seen her.
