Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s Day 12 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019’.
It’s time to talk about a ‘Doctor Who’ companion who is my best friend at conventions.
“Happy Birthday Sarah!”
Sarah Sutton is the reason why I’ve been going to conventions. She plays Nyssa of Traken, who first met Tom Baker’s Doctor in ‘The Keeper of Traken’ before becoming a companion to Peter Davison’s Doctor. She did two seasons of ‘Doctor Who’ on TV before doing plenty of Big Finish audio adventures.
I’m lucky to have become friends with Sarah at conventions. I’ve become a huge fan of her work both as Nyssa and in non-‘Doctor Who’ related roles. I’ve enjoyed the chats I’ve had with Sarah over the years at conventions and she appreciates my support to her as a fan and as a friend which is very nice.
The first time I met Sarah was at the ‘Fifth Element’ event in Chiswick, London, February 2010. The latest conventions I’ve seen Sarah at this year include ‘Science of the Time Lords’ in Leicester, January 2019; the ‘London Comic Con Spring’ in March 2019; the ‘Film & Comic Con Cardiff’ in March 2019 and the ‘Film & Comic Con Glasgow’ in August 2019. All the times I’ve met Sarah have been wonderful.
Sarah has signed the DVD and CD covers of some of mine and her favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stories including ‘The Keeper of Traken’, ‘Black Orchid’, ‘Earthshock’, ‘Spare Parts’, ‘Circular Time’, ‘Castle of Fear’, ‘The Eternal Summer’, ‘Plague of the Daleks’, ‘The Demons of Red Lodge and Other Stories’, ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’, ‘Alien Heart’/‘Dalek Soul’, ‘The Peterloo Massacre’ and ‘The Emerald Tiger’. Sarah has also signed my VHS cover of ‘TravelWise’, my copy of ‘The Light At The End’ and my DVD cover; novelization book and audiobook CD of ‘The Moon Stallion’. In all the stories I’ve seen and heard Sarah, she’s been excellent!
As I’m a huge Nyssa/Sarah Sutton fan, I’ve written plenty of ‘Doctor Who’ fan-fiction stories featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and new companion Billy. I’ve also conducted interviews with Sarah as well as an April Fools sketch and a 4th anniversary celebration video. I’m forever grateful to Sarah in giving me so much joy whenever I see her at conventions and I’m happy to call her my best friend and favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion. I’m looking forward to the next time I meet Sarah at a convention.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
