It’s Day 18 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019.
She’s bubbly as ever and has been in both ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’.

Katy Manning played Jo Grant in the ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with Jon Pertwee and currently plays her in the Big Finish audios. She returned to play Jo in ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’ story called ‘Death of the Doctor’. I’m lucky to have met Katy Manning at conventions over the years and enjoy meeting her.
The first time I met Katy was at the ‘Fantom Films @ Memorabilia Birmingham’ event at the NEC, November 2011. It was there I had a group photo with Katy Manning, Sarah Sutton, Deborah Watling and Sophie Aldred as well as a group photo with Katy and Sarah. Having those two photos led me to write Jo in my ‘Doctor Who’ fan-fiction stories including ‘The Robots of Lonmar’ and ‘City of Monsters’.
Other times I’ve seen Katy at conventions include ‘Project Motor Mouth 2’, Slough, August 2013; the ‘Cardiff Film & Comic Con’, March 2014; ‘Time Warp’, Weston-super-Mare, July 2014; ‘Pandorica 2014’, Bristol, September 2014; ‘Valiant 2015’, Sheffield, March 2015; the ‘Bournemouth Film & Comic Con’, August 2015; ‘The Capitol II’ at the Arora Hotel, Gatwick, May 2017; the ‘Folkestone Film, TV and Comic Con’, May 2018; ‘Science of the Time Lords’, Leicester, January 2019 and the ‘Film & Comic Con Glasgow’, August 2019. All the times I’ve seen Katy at conventions have been positively delightful.
I’ve had items signed by Katy too at conventions. This includes my DVD covers for ‘The Mind of Evil’; ‘The Claws of Axos’; ‘The Dæmons’; ‘Day of the Daleks’; ‘The Sea Devils’; ‘The Three Doctors’; ‘Carnival of Monsters’; ‘Frontier In Space’; ‘Planet of the Daleks’ and ‘The Green Death’. They’re some of my favourite Third Doctor and Jo stories. I’m glad Katy signed my DVD covers for them. I’ve also had a signed photo of Jo from ‘The Sea Devils’ and a signed photo of Jo with Sarah Jane Smith from Katy. 🙂
Meeting Katy at conventions is a joy for any ‘Doctor Who’ fan and I’m pleased to have met her and had lovely chats with her. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Katy do some chicken noises for me from ‘Carnival of Monsters’. 😀 Katy is still a bubbly and lively person as she was playing Jo in ‘Doctor Who’.

I met Katy at a convention & she said i was a cutie, Jo Grant said i was cute made not only my day but my eternity.
Katy is one of the nicest people to meet at convention’s she is warm & friendly & i loved her talking about the late Jon Pertwee.
