Day 22 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Day 22 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2019.

Daleks, Cybermen, Judoon, Ice Warriors and Zygons! What about the Borg from ‘Star Trek’? 😀

He’s a man of many talents! As well as voicing many ‘Doctor Who’ monsters for TV and audio, Nicholas Briggs has also written, produced and directed many Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ over the years! I’m surprised he hasn’t written an actual episode for the TV series since he loves ‘Doctor Who’ so much.

I’ve had great pleasure in meeting Nick Briggs at conventions. The first time I met him was at the ‘Regenerations 2011’ convention in Swansea, September 2011. He signed my DVD cover for ‘Doctor Who – Series 1 – Volume 2’ featuring the ‘Dalek’ episode as well as my CD cover for ‘100’ with Colin Baker. We chatted about how lovely Sarah Sutton is and I’m pleased he said that when I met him then.

Other times I’ve seen Nick Briggs at conventions include the ‘Project Motor Mouth 2’ event in Slough, August 2013; the ‘Cardiff Film & Comic Con’, March 2014; the ‘Timeless Collectors’ fair in Fareham, December 2014; ‘Big Finish Day 6’ in Slough, January 2015 and ‘The Capitol II’ convention at the Arora Hotel, Gatwick, May 2017. All the times I’ve met Nick have been great. I’ve enjoyed sharing how much I’ve enjoyed the Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ and Nick seems to appreciate the support I give.

As well as my ‘Doctor Who – Series 1 – Volume 2’ DVD cover and the ‘100’ CD cover, Nick Briggs has signed other items for me at conventions. Nick has signed my CD covers for ‘Night of the Whisper’ and ‘The Time Machine’ from the ‘Destiny of the Doctor’ series as well as my CD copy of ‘The Light At The End’. Nick Briggs has also signed my CD covers for the two stories ‘The Mutant Phase’ and ‘Spare Parts’.

In many ways, Nick Briggs has been one of the saving graces of ‘Doctor Who’ via the Big Finish audios during its time when the TV show wasn’t on in the 1990s and early 2000s. I’m pleased I’ve met Nick at conventions and it’s incredible he gets to do voices for monsters in the TV series and the Big Finish audios.

Thanks for reading!

Check out what Day 22 of my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendars for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 were about!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
