Basement News – May 2020

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Well, at this point, the UK and many parts of the world are still in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic – please keep safe. Whilst I’m still cooped up at home, I’m keeping busy with reviews and such. I’m looking forward to enjoying my birthday next week. I’ll be sharing a blog post about that soon. In the meantime, let’s check out what’s to come on my blog for May and beyond.

I’m looking forward to sharing the next story in the ‘Zorbius’ series of ‘Doctor Who’ by me. So far, I’ve added ‘The Zondor Robbers’, ‘The Deepening Rain’, ‘The Matter of Reality’ and ‘The Hunters of Doom’ to my blog. For May, I’m sharing the next story called ‘The Mirror of Memory’ featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy and it’s a sequel to ‘Black Orchid’. More ‘Zorbius’ stories to follow include ‘The End Dilemma’ with the Sixth Doctor for June; ‘The Game of Delta’ with the Seventh Doctor and ‘The Infinity Planet’ with the Eighth Doctor.

I’m expecting to receive my copy of the Season 14 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ sometime soon. It stars Tom Baker with Elisabeth Sladen and Louise Jameson. Whether that’ll happen this month, I don’t know. I hope I’ll be able to update my reviews on the stories of that season soon. I’ve also pre-ordered Series 12 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray; the two seasons of ‘Great British Car Journeys’ with Peter Davison and Christopher Timothy on DVD; the ‘Doctor Who and the Keeper of Traken’ audiobook CD and the two ‘Timeslip’ CD box sets by Big Finish featuring Sarah Sutton. I’m currently looking forward to checking those out.

I’ve recently reviewed the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘At Childhood’s End’ by Sophie Aldred, featuring Ace meeting the Thirteenth Doctor, Graham, Ryan and Yaz – both as a book and as an audiobook. Please feel free to check out my review. I’m currently reading/hearing ‘Engines of War’ by George Mann, featuring the War Doctor – as a book and as an audiobook.

In terms of the Big Finish audios of ‘Doctor Who’ I’ve purchased this year, I’ve listened to quite a number of them in April this year. These will be posted on my blog for the next few months. Lately, I’ve shared my reviews on ‘The Wreck of the World’, ‘The Home Guard’ and Volume 1 of ‘The Third Doctor Adventures’ including ‘Prisoners of the Lake’ and ‘The Havoc of Empires’. Stay tuned for more Big Finish reviews coming soon to my blog. I’ve also added a new photo featuring the cast of ‘1001 Nights’ by Big Finish starring Peter Davsion, Sarah Sutton and Alexander Siddig to cheer people up.

For Easter this year, as well as my Good Friday and Easter Sunday posts, I shared my DVD review on ‘The Miracle Maker’, a 2000 stop-motion animation film about the story of Jesus Christ. I’ve also shared my Easter review season on the BBV series called ‘The Stranger’, starring Colin Baker. These include reviews on ‘Summoned by Shadows’, ‘More Than a Messiah’, ‘In Memory Alone’, ‘The Terror Game’, ‘The Last Mission’, ‘Breach of the Peace’ and ‘Eye of the Beholder’ with ‘Eye of the Storm’. I’ll be preparing a new Easter review season for 2021 soon.

As we’re currently in lockdown, I’ve had an opportunity to update and extend my reviews on the ‘Spider-Man’ 1990s animated TV series. I’m enjoying revisiting the series so far. I’ve recently updated my reviews on Seasons 1 and 2. I’ll be sharing my updated reviews on Season 3 very soon. Stay tuned!

As we speak, I’m currently nearing towards the end of my re-watch and reviews on Season 3 of ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’. I’ve enjoyed re-watching Season 3 of ‘DS9’ during the lockdown and will shortly be sharing my reviews on my blog soon. I’ll also soon be getting on to revisiting Season 4 of ‘DS9’ after I’ve had a birthday bash of ‘Doctor Who’ stories to revisit again out on Blu-ray – notably from the Season 18 and Season 19 Blu-ray box sets. 😀

Recently, I’ve reviewed all six episodes of Series 1 of ‘Call the Midwife’ as well as the 2012 Christmas Special on DVD. I’m currently checking out Series 2 of ‘Call the Midwife’. I’ve shared my reviews on Series 2 of ‘The Brittas Empire’ on my blog and am currently checking out Series 3. I’ve also seen the ‘Tom and Jerry’ film called ‘Shiver Me Whiskers’. Another ‘Tom and Jerry’ review will come soon.

For May, I’ll be sharing my reviews on the 10-film DVD box set collection of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. This will include reviews on ‘Flying Down to Rio’, ‘The Gay Divorcee’, ‘Roberta’, ‘Top Hat’, ‘Follow the Fleet’, ‘Swing Time’, ‘Shall We Dance’, ‘Carefree’, ‘The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle’ and ‘The Barkleys of Broadway’. Stay tuned for my reviews on those ten movies coming soon to my blog. 🙂

I miss going to conventions and seeing ‘Doctor Who’ stars like Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred, Louise Jameson, Wendy Padbury, Janet Fielding, Matthew Waterhouse and Mark Strickson. I pray that they’re keeping safe and healthy as well as for my family and friends. I live in the hope that the coronavirus pandemic will end. I hope I’ll get to go to another convention soon as well as see movies at the cinema. I also pray to everyone who visits my blog to keep safe and healthy wherever you are. In the meantime, please continue to enjoy my blog.

I’m currently looking forward to my birthday next week!

Many thanks to everyone who has supported my blog!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
