‘Happy Birthday to Me!’ 2020

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s my birthday today! For this occasion, I’m sharing a Dalek birthday card I once had from my work domain a few years ago. I really like this Dalek birthday card. Even though you can’t see it, the card has a 3-D effect, which I like. I’m also happy my friends at work know of my love for ‘Doctor Who’. 😀

Anyway, I want to share with you what would be the ideal birthday for me. Since we’re…

“Mayday, mayday, mayday!”

(baffled) What?! What was that?! You all saw that right? (thinks) Wait a minute! What day is it today? Let me check.

Tim googles for the day today.

Okay. Okay, it’s Friday the 8th of May 2020. So that doesn’t mean… (puzzled) Wait!

Tim checks again.

(stunned) But…it can’t be Early Bank Holiday Monday on Friday! Early Bank Holiday Monday is always on a Monday! How did this happen? How come Early Bank Holiday Monday and my birthday is on Friday the 8th of May? That’s impossible! Time and space are crumbling apart on this very day!

Wait! It’s because we’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of VE Day today, isn’t it? Of course! I should’ve realised VE Day happens on my birthday! After all, I reviewed a movie called ‘A Royal Day Out’ focusing on VE Day! And I reviewed that movie on DVD back in 2015. Gosh, that’s a while back.

(thinks) Where was I? (remembers) Oh yes! So anyway, I want to share with you what would be the ideal birthday for me. Since we’re still in troubled times because of the coronavirus pandemic – please keep safe – I can’t do what I’d normally do on my birthday like seeing a movie at the cinema.

That’s such a shame. I would’ve liked to have seen ‘Black Widow’, the first movie of Phase Four in the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ film series. I could’ve had a nice meal at Bella Italia, whether it’d be spaghetti bolognese; lasagne or a pizza. With cinemas and restaurants closed, it’s hard to do all that.

If I had the ideal birthday and lived in a parallel universe where the coronavirus never happened, I would’ve liked to have gone to a ‘Doctor Who’ convention or a comic con for my birthday. I would’ve liked to have seen my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ stars including Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred, Katy Manning, Janet Fielding, Matthew Waterhouse, Mark Strickson and many more. I hope I’ll see them soon at convention once this crisis is over. I pray they are all keeping safe.

As I’m not going to a convention or seeing a movie at the cinema this time round for my birthday, I’m hoping to enjoy a few ‘Doctor Who’ stories on DVD, Blu-ray and/or audio as well as see movies on DVD and/or Blu-ray. The ideal ‘Doctor Who’ story I have mind to see today is ‘Black Orchid’ and the ideal movie I have mind to see today is ‘Spider-Man 2′. I hope I’ll have a pizza meal with the two today. 😀

Many thanks to everyone who has supported my ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog these past years! This year will be my blog’s fifth year and I hope to prepare something in celebration for that when it comes to September. In the meantime, stay tuned for new reviews and items on my blog for 2020 and beyond. I know things aren’t exactly normal as they used to be, but the future will be brighter. 🙂

Off to enjoy myself today for my birthday…and Early Bank Holiday Friday, I suppose. 😀

Many thanks

Bye for now.

Tim. 🙂

      Hi Simon.

      Many thanks.

Having a nice day so far. Hopefully these times we live in won’t last forever. I’m looking forward to seeing films like ‘Black Widow’ and ‘No Time To Die’ when we’re allowed to go back to the cinema and when they re-open.

Currently enjoying ‘The Moon Stallion’ audiobook read by Sarah Sutton today.

Stay safe and healthy too Simon.

      Tim. 🙂

      Hi Tom.

Many thanks for your birthday message. Hope you and your mum are doing okay during this difficult time.

I’m enjoying my birthday so far. Enjoyed a bit of ‘The Moon Stallion’ audiobook this morning. Had some nice gifts from family and friends today. Looking forward to watching ‘Black Orchid’ and ‘Spider-Man 2’ tonight.

I’ve checked Janet Fielding’s Twitter feed. Both she and Sarah Sutton seem to be doing okay last I checked as well as others like Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sophie Aldred. Hopefully we’ll be seeing these people again soon once this crisis is over. I would like to see Sarah and Peter again in Bedford in October. Hopefully that’ll go ahead.

Happy Birthday to you in 17 days time.

Take care and keep safe and healthy.

See you soon to you and your mum.

      Tim. 🙂

    Dear Tim

If you do not remember me we went to many comic cons with Sarah Sutton and I told her to wear an England Rugby Union top to impress the Welsh people at the Cardiff Comic Con as rugby union is the top sport in Wales.

On Friday I watched the film that inspired the Dr Who adventure ‘Black Orchid’ the ‘Oblong Box’ and I discovered that the actor who played the crooked lawyer Peter Arne actually met Peter Davidson and Janet Fielding just before he was murdered in 1983.

I have also met somebody who was aquainted with Sarah Sutton through her husband. It is Andy Irvine whom you know was the former Scotland Rugby Union Fullback. He told me at Murrayfield that she did look familiar.

      Hi Jonathan.

Thanks for your message. Glad you enjoyed the ‘Oblong Box’ film. Interesting connections to ‘Black Orchid’ and the tidbit about Petet Arne.

      Hope you’re well.

      Tim. 🙂
