Basement News – June 2020

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

In the UK, things are starting to ease a bit with the lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic. But still – please keep safe. I hope there’ll be things to look forward to in terms of conventions and movies at the cinema once this pandemic is over. In the meantime, I’m still keeping busy and I hope to share with you more reviews and stuff on my blog in June and beyond. Let’s have a preview of it. 🙂

I’ve recently added my latest story in the ‘Zorbius’ series of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘The Mirror of Memory’ featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. This month, I’ll be sharing the next story in the series called ‘The End Dilemma’ featuring the Sixth Doctor and Peri. Other stories to follow include ‘The Game of Delta’ with the Seventh Doctor and ‘The Infinity Planet’ with the Eighth Doctor. I’m currently working on the next story after that called ‘The Nightmare of the Warrior’ with the War Doctor, which I hope to upload to my blog soon.

Thankfully my Season 14 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker came in the post in time for my birthday as well as my Series 12 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jodie Whittaker. Incidentally, check out my 2020 birthday post as well as my Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy Day post. 🙂

I plan to start re-watching and updating my reviews on Season 14 of ‘Doctor Who’ very soon. I hope to share my updated reviews on Season 14 with Tom Baker sometime this month. I also plan to do a Thirteenth Doctor month of ‘Doctor Who’ and share full-detailed reviews of Series 11 and 12 soon. 🙂

In terms of birthday presents, I’ve received four ‘Doctors’ DVDs featuring ‘Myth Makers’ interviews with the stars including from ‘The William Hartnell Years’, ‘The Patrick Troughton Years’, ‘The Tom Baker Years’ and ‘The Sylvester McCoy Years’. I hope to do quick reviews on these DVDs soon. I also plan to do a BBV review soon as I received the first ‘P.R.O.B.E.’ episode on DVD for my birthday from my best mate Stephen.

I’ve received the first ‘Timeslip’ box set featuring Sarah Sutton as a download from Big Finish. When I have both ‘Timeslip’ box sets with Sarah Sutton, I hope to start watching and reviewing the ‘Timeslip’ TV series on DVD as well as hear and review the ‘Timeslip’ audios on my blog. The reviews will be added to my blog around December time before the next ‘Nyssa Challenge’ review season. 🙂

Speaking of which, I’m looking forward to the upcoming Fourth Doctor/Tenth Doctor audio adventure by Big Finish called ‘Out of Time’ starring Tom Baker and David Tennant. I’m also looking forward to the next couple of Fifth Doctor audios by Big Finish including ‘Thin Time’/’Madquake’ with Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton, Janet Fielding and George Watkins. I hope I’ll review them soon. 🙂

In terms of books, I’ve read and reviewed the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Engines of War’ by George Mann, featuring the War Doctor – both as a book and as an audiobook. Please feel free to check out my review. At present, I’m reading a ‘Doctor Who’ book series which will be reviewed for Easter 2021. 🙂

It’s been mostly ‘Doctor Who’ reviews on Fourth Doctor audios by Big Finish that have been shared on my blog lately. The stories reviewed include ‘The Catalyst’, ‘Empathy Games’ and ‘The Time Vampire’ with Louise Jameson; ‘The Justice of Jalxar’ and ‘Phantoms of the Deep’ with Tom Baker and Mary Tamm; and the two Series 9 CD box sets of ‘The Fourth Doctor Adventures’ with Tom Baker, Lalla Walla, Matthew Waterhouse and John Leeson which include ‘Purgatory 12’, ‘Chase the Night’, ‘The Planet of Witches’ and ‘The Quest of the Engineer’. I’ve also shared my reviews on ‘Classic Doctors, New Monsters’ – Volume 2 which include ‘Night of the Vashta Nerada’, ‘Empire of the Racnoss’, ‘The Carrionite Curse’ and ‘Day of the Vashta Nerada’. Coming soon to my blog, there’ll be four reviews on four Sixth Doctor audio adventures starring Colin Baker and Lisa Greenwood. Stay tuned!

I’ve finished updating my reviews on the 1990s ‘Spider-Man’ animated TV series as I’ve recently updated my reviews on Seasons 3, 4 and 5. I’ve also reviewed Series 3 of ‘The Brittas Empire’ on my blog. I’ve reviewed Season 3 of ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ and will be reviewing Season 4 soon. I’ve started by watching and reviewing the first episode of Season 4 called ‘The Way of the Warrior’. Please feel free to check out my review on the episode.

I’ve recently shared my reviews on the 10-film DVD box set collection of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. These include reviews on ‘Flying Down to Rio’, ‘The Gay Divorcee’, ‘Roberta’, ‘Top Hat’, ‘Follow the Fleet’, ‘Swing Time’, ‘Shall We Dance’, ‘Carefree’, ‘The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle’ and ‘The Barkleys of Broadway’. Please feel free to check out my reviews on the ten movies here.

For June, I’ll be sharing reviews on four Agatha Christie film adaptations from the 1970s/80s including ‘Murder on the Orient Express’, ‘Death on the Nile’, ‘The Mirror Crack’d’ and ‘Evil Under The Sun’. There’ll also be reviews on the ‘Phase Three: Part Two’ Blu-ray box set of the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ film series. Stay tuned for upcoming film reviews on my blog very soon.

I recently did a quick review on Volumes 1 to 3 of ‘Tom and Jerry’ – The Classic Collection. I’ve purchased the limited collector’s edition of the Classic Collection of ‘Tom and Jerry’ and I’m currently enjoying it so far. I’ve also done a quick review on the Disney/Pixar film ‘Onward’, which I saw on my home computer. I’ve also done reviews on the movie trailers for ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ and ‘The Secret Garden’ (2020). Please feel free to check them out. 🙂 Also check out the ‘LEGO Batman PSA’ made for this difficult time we’re in.

I live in the hope that things will get better from now on and that we’ll be slowly returning to normal soon. It’ll be a different lifestyle once restrictions slowly start to ease in different parts of the world. I pray that everyone will keep safe during this difficult time. I look forward to when conventions return so that I can people like Sarah Sutton and Peter Davison again. I also look forward to when movies return to the cinema.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll continue to enjoy my blog as I keep on sharing my reviews on various things. Please keep safe and healthy wherever you are.

Many thanks to everyone who has supported my blog!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
