Quick ‘Muppets’ Review – ‘Going, Going, Gonzo’ (The Muppets) (2015-16)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ and I’m Tim Bradley!

Last Friday, I saw the ninth episode of ‘The Muppets’ 2015 series on Disney+. I don’t think if I’ll watch all the remaining episodes before 2020 ends or whether I’ll still be watching this series by the time January 2021 comes along. Either way, I’m currently enjoying ‘The Muppets’ 2015 series so far.

In this episode called ‘Going, Gong, Gonzo’, our titular Muppet, Gonzo the Great, debates about whether to attempt a past stunt that he never completed. Kermit encourages him to do it and schedules it for the next instalment of ‘Up Late with Miss Piggy’. But Gonzo is soon left in a dilemma.

By the way, this was prompted by a near-accident caused by Sweetums and Gonzo when Miss Piggy was singing a song with Joseph Gordon-Levitt on his show. For those of you who don’t know, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, the third entry of the Batman ‘Dark Knight’ film trilogy.

I wonder if Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character became Robin by this point in ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy film universe. 😀 Miss Piggy also plans to promote her new product called Piggy Water whilst Gonzo performs his stunt. This is something that Kermit the Frog is not too keen about as she introduces it.

I liked that scene towards the end of the episode where Kermit shows concern for Gonzo when he doesn’t feel confident about doing the past stunt he hoped to do, especially when it could splatter his brains. 😀 Thankfully Gonzo goes through the stunt and both he and Kermit are so happy about it.

There’s also a subplot where Scooter attempts to change his image with the help of the Electric Mayhem Band. Somehow I don’t think that went off very well. 😀 This episode also features Dave Grohl who performs on Miss Piggy’s show for a bit as well as competing with Animal on the drums. 🙂

Animal did compete with Buddy Rich at one time, didn’t you know? 😀 Overall, ‘Going, Going, Gonzo’ was a fun episode to watch. I like how Kermit and Gonzo’s relationship is touched on and it was fun to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt after seeing him in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. A shame Fozzie wasn’t in this.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
