Day 5 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2020

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Day 5 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2020.

Fancy a visit to the Island of Sodor?

Santa Cuddles certainly does! Here he is with Thomas the Tank Engine as he shows him episodes of the first two seasons of ‘Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends’ – or ‘Thomas & Friends’ as it’s now called. The first season of ‘Thomas’ was shown in 1984. The second season of ‘Thomas’ was shown in 1986.

I used to love watching ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ on VHS and TV as a kid. You can find out more about that in Day 1 of my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2015 blog post as well as the Christmas post I did for 2019, featuring the episode ‘Thomas’ Christmas Party’ shown on YouTube. 🙂

In fact, as well as the DVD releases of ‘Thomas’, you can check out the first two complete seasons of ‘Thomas’ on YouTube here and here. I love the first two seasons of ‘Thomas’. I did watch the later seasons during the 1990s, but I don’t find them as good as the original first two seasons of ‘Thomas’.

Each episode of ‘Thomas’ in the first two seasons was narrated by Ringo Starr, one of the Beatles, would you believe? I’ve also seen the movie ‘Thomas and the Magic Railroad’, starring Mara Wilson, Peter Fonda and Alec Baldwin. That was probably the final association I had with Thomas back then.

Thomas has certainly changed a lot since I was a kid, including having a CGI makeover, which I’ve briefly seen and personally don’t like. I still love Thomas and the Tank Engine and have fond memories of him as a kid. Does Cuddles believe he’s going to get teleported to the Island of Sodor? 🙂

Cuddles: “I think Snuggles’ son Buggles wants Thomas for Christmas.”

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
