Quick ‘Muppets’ Review – ‘A Tail of Two Piggies’ (The Muppets) (2015-16)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Here we go again with another review on an episode from ‘The Muppets’ 2015-16 series. These ‘Muppet’ episodes have been enjoyable to watch on Disney+ and this latest one I’ve seen has been very entertaining, especially with Miss Piggy and everybody else showing their pigtails by the climax!

In the episode, Miss Piggy attends the premiere of ‘Zootropolis’ (I must get around to watching that film sometime on Disney+ 😀 ). But a wardrobe malfunction occurs where her pigtail hangs out. This causes a big uproar as Miss Piggy receives media attention, struggling with its trials and tribulations.

Eventually, Miss Piggy meets a young pig fan of hers who was delighted to see her show her pigtail to everyone. Thus, Miss Piggy decides to embrace who she is and plans to show her pigtail on the air. Whilst Kermit’s okay with that, June Diana Raphael as Lucy Royce and Sam the Eagle do not approve.

I don’t get the pigtail controversy. Is it meant to reflect something regarding media taking advantage of people’s private parts? Lucy Royce and Sam advise Kermit to talk to Miss Piggy into not going through with her plans to show her pigtail, citing the job losses and sponsors should this ever occur.

On the night itself for Miss Piggy’s show, Kermit goes on stage and says that although the network has banned Miss Piggy for showing her pigtail, it doesn’t mean he and his staff can’t show their pigtails. I found it funny when Kermit and everyone else had ‘fake’ pigtails on their ‘bottoms’ to show viewers.

The episode has Joan Jett performing ‘Bad Reputation’ during Miss Piggy’s show. Hearing that song puts me in mind of the first ‘Shrek’ movie! 😀 The episode also has Gonzo, Rizzo and Pepe renting a house that belonged to Ian Ziering, following Gonzo’s very recent break-up with Camilla the Chicken.

Incidentally, my Mum and I recognised Rosalind Chao (who played Keiko O’Brien in ‘Star Trek: TNG’ and ‘DS9’) taking part in a PSA ad (I believe) with Kermit and Miss Piggy. Overall, ‘A Tail of Two Piggies’ was pretty entertaining and it was funny to see everyone show their pigtails at the very end.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
