‘Star Wars’ Tributes

Hello everyone. 😦

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

There have been a lot of deaths in 2020 – please keep safe. As I’m currently revisiting the ‘Star Wars’ movies and enjoying ‘The Mandalorian’ series on Disney+, it’s very sad for me to hear the news that David Prowse, the original actor who played Darth Vader in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy and Jeremy Bulloch, who played Boba Fett in the original trilogy have passed away recently this year.

You probably never heard David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch’s voices when they played Darth Vader and Boba Fett respectively, but they were the people who walked around in the suits of those characters in the ‘Star Wars’ movies whilst making them on set. I’m lucky to have met these gents. 🙂

Mind you, I also know them for playing characters in ‘Doctor Who’. Dave Prowse was the Minotaur in ‘The Time Monster’ with Jon Pertwee whilst Jeremy Bulloch was Tor in ‘The Space Museum’ with William Hartnell and Hal the Archer in ‘The Time Warrior’ with Jon Pertwee. I’m very glad though that they are so well-known in ‘Star Wars’ circles for being the bodies of Darth Vader and Boba Feet.

I only met Dave Prowse briefly at the ‘Collectormania 22’ event in Milton Keynes, November 2014, but I had a nice chat with him and got a signature from him. I’ve met Jeremy Bulloch thrice at conventions, first at Milton Keynes in November 2014; then in Bournemouth in August 2015 and finally in Worcester in August 2016. I’m lucky to have had the DVD covers of ‘The Space Museum’ and ‘The Time Warrior’ signed by Jeremy as well as the ‘Doctor Who and the Time Warrior’ audiobook signed by him. Jeremy does a very good reading of ‘The Time Warrior’ tale in audio form.

As I write this, I’m about to watch ‘Return of the Jedi’ on DVD. This will be a great opportunity to commemorate David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch for being in the original ‘Star Wars’ films. The news of their deaths will be a big blow to ‘Star Wars’ fans, but there’s no doubt they’ll never be forgotten.

My prayers and thoughts are with the families and friends of David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch.

Thanks for reading.

It is very sad. I’m amazed I’ve been able to meet them at conventions.

Yes, Jeremy was in a few James Bond movies with Roger Moore as Smithers – ‘For Your Eyes Only’ and ‘Octopussy’. Thanks for reminding me, Simon. 😀

Very pleased you liked my tribute to David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch.

      Tim. 🙂
