It’s Day 20 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2020.
It’s time to get into the Christmassy spirit of things!
For starters, Santa Cuddles is checking out the 2000 film ‘The Grinch’, starring Jim Carrey. Say what you will about Jim Carrey, but I find him to be an entertaining comedian, even if his comedy can be way over-the-top at times. ‘The Grinch’ was the very first time I experienced Jim Carrey in any film. 🙂
It was also the first time I experienced a film based on one of the characters created by Dr. Seuss. I’ve not seen the 1960s cartoon film by Chuck Jones yet, nor have I seen the latest 2018 CGI animated film starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Grinch. I imagine it’s not as good as the 2000 film.
At present, I prefer to stick with Jim Carrey’s Grinch. And yes, I know there can be division over ‘The Grinch’ film starring Jim Carrey, but I find it to be a guilty pleasure. There is an uplifting message to be found in the film, especially since family’s more important than the commercial side of Christmas.
I first had ‘The Grinch’ on DVD for Christmas in 2001. I can’t say I’ve seen it every Christmas since I’ve had it, but in recent years, I’ve been looking forward to watching it, especially since I shared my review on the film last year. I’m sure I’ll be watching ‘The Grinch’ film with Jim Carrey again this year.
Santa Cuddles is determined not to let the Grinch steal Christmas again. One of the reasons Cuddles like ‘The Grinch’ film with Jim Carrey is that Max the dog is in it. Of course, he’d like Max the dog in that film. I like Max the dog too. It is funny when Max is loyal to the Grinch despite his eccentricities.
Cuddles: “It’s now time for ‘The Greench’ with Tim Scary! There should also be a picture of Max on the DVD cover!”
