Quick ‘Muppets’ Review – ‘Got Silk?’ (The Muppets) (2015-16)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

For the most part, I’ve been enjoying ‘The Muppets’ 2015-16 series so far on Disney+. Each episode has been entertaining as they feature good stories and have plenty of comedic value. However, the latest ‘Muppets’ episode I’ve seen of the series ‘Got Silk?’ wasn’t really inspiring when I watched it.

Not that it’s terrible by any means, but the plots themselves in the episode weren’t all that exciting. I’m wondering if this is where the series went downhill a bit. In the episode, Miss Piggy becomes disheartened since the latest changes made to ‘Up Late with Miss Piggy’ do give her less screen time.

She tries to search for a friend as she goes with Janice to an aerial silk class, but she doesn’t have much luck. In the end, it turns out Uncle Deadly was her true constant friend this whole time. I don’t think this subplot goes anywhere in terms of developing character. It felt quite uninteresting for me.

Elsewhere, Utkarsh Amudkar as Pizza causes trouble when he attempts to brainwash Gonzo, Pepe and Rizzo into writing a sketch that happens to be a ‘dull’ commercial. Oh yeah, Gonzo, Pepe and Rizzo have been the writers of Miss Piggy’s show this whole time. They write most of the jokes here.

I don’t really understand the Pizza character storyline featured in ‘The Muppets’ series and why he tries to ruin their show. It also doesn’t make sense about Gonzo, Pepe and Rizzo being dressed up in posh clothes and Kermit buying the clothes off from Pizza at the end. Again, this was not interesting.

The episode also has Kermit dealing with the status of his relationship with Denise as they’ve been spending time apart from each other since ‘Swine Song’. I thought it was sad Denise seemed to ‘dump’ Kermit, putting his things on his desk. Denise didn’t appear nor talk to Kermit in thepisode.

The special guest stars in this episode include Ingrid Michaelson, who sings at the end of the show, I believe. There’s also RuPaul, who would later guest star in the first episode of ‘Muppets Now’ called ‘Due Date’. Overall, ‘Got Silk?’ was not all that inspiring a ‘Muppet’ episode which is a shame indeed.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
