Quick Trailer Thoughts – ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ & ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

There’s a new teaser trailer for the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ movie called ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. This is set to be released at cinemas for Christmas time. I’m looking forward to checking out this movie at the cinema. I cannot deny that I’m little excited by it from watching the teaser trailer. 🙂

This looks promising, especially from Alfred Molina’s appearance as Doc Ock in the teaser trailer as well as the pumpkin bomb thrown by the Green Goblin (who I believe is played by Willem Dafoe). This film also looks like it’s going into dangerous territory compared to previous ‘MCU Spidey’ films.

I don’t know if this is going to guarantee Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men’s involvement in the film. It seems to lean towards it, but I wonder if they’ll make cameos at the end of the third film and they might make full-on appearances in a fourth ‘Spidey’ film with Tom Holland. 😐

As well as Tom Holland, Zendaya is set to return as Michelle Jones (‘MJ’) and Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Dr. Strange. I sense a pattern in the ‘MCU Spider-Man’ movies where previous ‘MCU’ characters such as Tony Stark, Nick Fury and Dr. Strange make appearances in these ‘Spidey’ films. 😐

There’s also Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, J. B. Smoove as Julius Dell, one of Peter’s school teachers and Benedict Wong as Wong, Jamie Foxx is meant to return as Max Dillon/Electro in the film, but I didn’t see him during the film’s teaser trailer.

I know I’ve made criticisms about the ‘MCU Spider-Man’ movies in the past, but I’d like to be optimistic and hopeful that the third movie will win me over. I’m sensing there will be issues raised regarding the progression of certain characters in the film, but I’m hoping I will like ‘No Way Home’.

J.K. Simmons is also set to return to play J. Jonah Jameson in the film. 😀 Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson and Angourie Rice as Betty Brant are also set to return in the film. I’m wondering if there will be a right balance of drama and humour in ‘No Way Home’ compared to the previous two films.

Whilst, we’re here, let’s talk about the latest trailer for ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’. In the first teaser trailer for the film, I wasn’t really that impressed. I felt that the second ‘Venom’ film would be as bad as the first ‘Venom’ film. Watching the second trailer however, there might be hope for the new film. 🙂

Could my opinion on ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ change from watching the latest trailer? I still think the film will be a mess, but it’s got to be better than the first ‘Venom’ film, right? I think the Cletus Kasady/Carnage side of the film might be more promising than the Eddie Brock/Venom side. 🙂

It’ll be interesting to see how Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom will continue in his progression as a character in the ‘Venom’ sequel. It’s bound to be fraught with issues connected to the first film, but his interaction with Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady/Carnage could be very dramatic and gripping.

The horror aspects of the film might be elevated too, especially with Andy Serkis being the director of the film. I’m not sure about the love story angle with Michelle Williams as Anne Weying as that could be forced with her becoming engaged to Reid Scott as Dan Lewis. I could be wrong of course. 🙂

It was also interesting to see Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek make an appearance in the latest ‘Venom 2’ trailer. The film will also feature Stephen Graham as Mulligan, a detective who hopes to use Eddie Brock to find the remains of Cletus Kasady’s murder victims. Sounds intriguing! 🙂

I’m a little disappointed that ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ will be released at cinemas in October instead of September due to the latest Covid cases in the USA – please keep safe. Hopefully it won’t be long before ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ comes out at cinemas as it’ll be very interesting to see the film.

So, those are my thoughts on the latest trailers for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’. Even though I have doubts about how the films will turn out, hopefully I’ll enjoy them when they get released at cinemas. They should be worthwhile no matter what their output. 🙂

I leave you now with the first look of the upcoming ‘The Lord of the Rings’ series set for release in 2022. 😀

Looks nice! I wonder if the new series will be as good as ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film trilogy by Peter Jackson. Hmm!

Thanks for watching and reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
