Basement News – October 2021

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Is it October already? Goodness me! 2021 has gone by so quickly, hasn’t it? A lot has happened this year! What with getting the two Covid-19 vaccine jabs – please keep safe – and seeing films at the cinema. I’m really looking forward to seeing Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison and Janet Fielding again at the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ this month. I can’t deny being both excited and nervous at the same time about the event.

For the time being though, let me share with you what’s been going on with my blog for the past month in September. Let me also share with you what’s happening in October and beyond. There’s plenty more ‘Doctor Who’, TV, film, book and audio reviews to look forward to and I’m getting geared and looking forward to Christmas in December. 😀

My reviews on ‘The War Master’ audio series by Big Finish starring Sir Derek Jacobi continue! I’ve recently shared my review on the fourth box set called ‘Anti-Genesis’. I will soon be sharing my reviews on the fifth box set ‘Hearts of Darkness’ in November 2021 and on the sixth box set ‘Killing Time’ in January 2022.

I’m currently getting ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for December 2021 to January 2022 sorted. I’m looking forward to checking out ‘The Lost Resort and Other Stories’ CD box set, which I’ve recently received in the post. I will also be sharing my updated review on the latest animation version of the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Evil of the Daleks’ with Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor.

I’ve shared more reviews from the ‘Time Lord Victorious’ series, including ‘The Guide to the Dark Times’ from the official 2021 ‘Doctor Who’ annual, ‘Monstrous Beauty’, ‘The Knight, the Fool and the Dead’, ‘Master Thief’, ‘Lesser Evils’ and ‘He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not’. I’m looking forward to sharing my reviews on ‘The Enemy of My Enemy’, the ‘Daleks!’ YouTube series and ‘All Flesh is Grass’ for the rest of the month. There’ll be more ‘TLV’ reviews to look forward to in November.

As the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ approaches, I recently shared my ‘convention memories’ of attending the ‘Regeneration 2013’ convention back at the Village Hotel in Swansea, September 2013. I hope to share a convention report on the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ soon as well as ‘convention memories’ of the ‘Dimensions 2013’ convention at the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle, October 2013.

Some big exciting news has happened lately in terms of ‘Doctor Who’. Russell T. Davies is returning to take over as showrunner of the new ‘Doctor Who’ series from Chris Chibnall. To quote Mr. Spock from ‘Star Trek’, it’s most ‘fascinating’. I’ve shared my thoughts about Russell T. Davies returning to ‘Doctor Who’ in a blog post.

I’ve also celebrated the sixth anniversary of ‘Bradley’s Basement’ at the end of September. I celebrated by sharing a new ‘Doctor Who’ timeline for Dan Lewis, the Thirteenth Doctor’s new companion for Series 13, the first ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Strange Love’ discussion on ‘The Keeper of Traken’ with me, Timelord007, Wolfie and WilliamsFan92 (including some new ‘Keeper of Traken’ paintings by Timelord007), and the first episode of the upcoming Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy anthology called ‘The Coins of Deno’. I’m currently uploading the sixth episode of the eight-episode anthology and hope to share ‘The Coins of Deno’ complete in early 2022.

I’ve been busy lately in terms of sharing reviews on drama shows I’ve watched on TV. Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’ is currently underway and I’ve reviewed the first five episodes of the season. Series 2 of the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ series is also underway and I’ve reviewed the first three episodes of the season. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of Series 6 of ‘Grantchester’ and the rest of Series 2 of the new ‘All Creatures’ show for the rest of October.

I’ve shared my latest and completed reviews on Series 9 of ‘Call the Midwife’. My parents and I are currently watching Series 10 of ‘Call the Midwife’ on DVD. Hopefully I’ll be up-to-date with ‘Call the Midwife’ in November, just in time before the 2021 Christmas Special comes along as well as Series 11 in 2022.

I’ve shared a couple of in-depth reviews on two Disney films, including ‘The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea’ and the 2015 live-action remake of ‘Cinderella’. I’ve also shared an in-depth review on the 2019 biographical film called ‘Tolkien’. I’m hoping to update my reviews on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ radio series once I’ve sorted out my reviews for ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season this year. I’ve also reviewed the 2004 live-action film version of ‘Thunderbirds’.

I also shared a blog post to celebrate 55 years of ‘Star Trek’. It’s taking me a while to check out the three ‘Star Trek: Prometheus’ audiobooks which I currently have in my Big Finish account, but I’m hoping to check them out soon. I also hope to make a start on watching the ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ series on DVD. I’m looking forward to Season 2 of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ when it’s released in 2022.

The latest movie I saw at the cinema was the Marvel Cinematic Universe film ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. I’m looking forward to sharing my reviews on the new James Bond 007 film ‘No Time to Die’ and the ‘Venom’ sequel ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ soon. In terms of films I’ve seen on Disney+, I’ve seen ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’, ‘Honey, I Blew Up the Kid’ and ‘An Affair to Remember’.

I’ve finished seeing the Disney/Pixar series ‘Monsters at Work’ on Disney+. I greatly enjoyed watching the series and I’ve also enjoyed watching ‘Dug Days’, the sequel series to the film ‘Up’ on Disney+. I’m currently looking forward to watching the upcoming MCU series called ‘Hawkeye’ on Disney+, coming up at around Christmas time from November to December. 🙂

At present, October looks to be an exciting month for me, especially with the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ coming up where Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Janet Fielding will be in attendance. I pray the organisation of the event will run smoothly and the attendees (including myself) will have a good time and find the event worthwhile. I’m also looking forward to what the rest of 2021 will bring, especially when it comes to sharing reviews and blog posts on ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

In the meantime, please continue to keep safe!

Thanks again to everyone who keeps supporting my blog!

Many thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

    Hello Tim.

I’m sure the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ will be wonderful. I’m certainly looking forward to it. It will be an absolute joy to finally meet my favourite Doctor and favourite companions.

I still need to listen to ‘Warzone’, ‘Conversion’, ‘Time Apart’, ‘Thin Time’ and ‘Madquake’ before I listen to ‘The Lost Resort and other Stories’. I ordered ‘Warzone’/‘Conversion’ two week ago and annoyingly, it still hasn’t been dispatched. I still like Big Finish but it hasn’t taken them this long in the past.

    Take care, WF92. 😃

      Hi WF92,

Yeah I’m hoping ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’ will be a great event to look forward to. I’m currently sorting out packing my clothes and other things I need to take with me to the convention. It’s a slow process, but I’m getting there. I’m hoping Sarah, Janet and Peter will pleased to see me and everyone else at the event.

I’m currently listening to ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’ on vinyl for my upcoming ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season. It’ll take a while for me to get around to hearing ‘The Lost Resort and Other Stories’ as well as ‘Killing Time’ from ‘The War Master’ series, but hopefully I’ll get to hear them soon. Hopefully Big Finish will send out your items in the post. It does take a while as they’re doing digital first before dispatching the CDs. You can always enquire after 28 days of making the order on whether the CDs are on its way. BF are usually reliable.

      Many thanks,

      Tim 🙂
