Book Reviews – ‘Short Trips: Companions’ (Doctor Who) UPDATED

Short Trips Companions

–UPDATED REVIEWS ON SHORT STORIES TODAY–

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from December 2021 to January 2022! We’ve had some new Big Finish audios featuring Sarah Sutton in 2021 including ‘The Lost Resort and Other Stories’ and ‘The War Master’ story ‘Killing Time’. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on those audios as we go from the Christmas period of 2021 leading into the New Year of 2022.

For now, let’s start off this ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season by sharing my updated thoughts on the 17 stories featured in the ‘Short Trips: Companions’ collection. I’ve decided to postpone updating my reviews on the stories featured in the ‘Short Trips: Transmissions’ collection for the 2022-23 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season along with the two ‘Forty’ box sets with Peter Davison and the ‘Tenth Doctor Classic Companions’ box set with David Tennant.

For me, the main story in the ‘Short Trips: Companions’ collection is ‘Hearts of Stone’ featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Adric. There are also the stories ‘The Tip of the Mind’, ‘The Splintered Gate’, ‘The Man From DOCTO(R)’, ‘Apocrypha Bipedium’, ‘A Boy’s Tale’, ‘Kept Safe and Sound’, ‘The Lying Old Witch in the Wardrobe’, ‘Distance’, ‘Qualia’, ‘Curriculum Vitae’, ‘Notre Dame du Temps’, ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ (with a Big Finish audiobook read by Beth Chalmers), ‘Hidden Talent’, ‘The Canvey Angels’, ‘Balloon Debate’ and ‘A Long Night’.

Please feel free to check out; read and comment on my reviews for the short stories featured in the ‘Short Trips: Companions’ collection by clicking on the links for them. You can purchase ‘Short Trips: Companions’ either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com. You can also purchase ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ audiobook read by Beth Chalmers from the Big Finish website.

Enjoy! 🙂

Stay tuned tomorrow for my updated review on the Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Doctor Who – Time-Flight’ by Peter Grimwade, read by Peter Davison.

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
