Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
We continue checking out Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker by taking a look at the second story in the season called ‘City of Death’. This is my second favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story in the entire series (the first of course being ‘Black Orchid’). The story has Paris in 1979; Julian Glover as the villain; a cameo of John Cleese and Eleanor Bron; and an enjoyable comedy-drama plot by Douglas Adams, based on the ideas by David Fisher.
It was lovely to check out this ‘Doctor Who’ story again on Blu-ray. I especially enjoyed watching ‘The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to Douglas Adams’ documentary on the ‘City of Death’ Blu-ray disc as well as the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item on the story featuring Colin Baker, Matthew Waterhouse, Katy Manning, Nicola Bryant, visual effects designer Mat Irvine, costume designer June Hudson and director Graeme Harper.
Please feel free to check out; read and comment on my updated review for ‘City of Death’ by clicking on the link for it. This contains a review on the TV story as well as reviews on the TV soundtrack read by Lalla Ward; the 2015 novelization/audiobook by James Goss, read by Lalla Ward; and the 2018 junior Target novelization by James Goss.
You can purchase ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 17’ on Blu-ray either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.
Enjoy!
Bye for now!
Tim. 🙂
