Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s time for the third story of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. Today, we take a look at ‘The Creature From The Pit’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, who are joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). The story also features Myra Frances as Lady Adrasta, Geoffrey Bayldon as Organon and a peculiar alien creature called Erato. 😀 In terms of the story’s concepts and ideas, they’re very good. The overdose of humour and the execution of the titular ‘creature from the pit’ have a lot to be desired though. 😀
I enjoyed the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item on ‘The Creature From The Pit’ with Colin Baker, Matthew Waterhouse, Katy Manning, Nicola Bryant, Mat Irvine, June Hudson and Graeme Harper, as well as the ‘Remembering The Creature From The Pit’ making-of featurette and the ‘Lalla Ward Remembers Season 17’ interview. Lalla shares a fascinating story about working with Patrick Stewart on a production of ‘Hamlet’ and how he commented about TV and sci-fi back then before he did ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’. 😀
