Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
And we’ve come to the end of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. To finish off, we’re taking a look at the lost story called ‘Shada’, which was meant to be the season finale to Season 17, but was cancelled due to strike action happening in 1979. My review on the original ‘Shada’ is based on the 2021 ‘definitive version’ of the story in the Season 17 Blu-ray box set. I’ve combined both my reviews on the 1992 VHS version and the 2017 movie version of the ‘Shada’ story for this review.
It’s been fun to check out the 2021 ‘definitive version’ of the story on Blu-ray. You could almost say I’ve written my ‘definitive’ review on the ‘definite version’ of ‘Shada’. I’ve also enjoyed the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item on ‘Shada’, featuring Colin Baker, Matthew Waterhouse, Katy Manning, Nicola Bryant, Mat Irvine, June Hudson and Graeme Harper. I’ve also enjoyed revisiting the ‘Taken Out of Time’ making-of documentary and I’ve properly watched the ‘Now & Then’ featurette and the ‘Strike! Strike! Strike!’ documentary on Blu-ray! 🙂
Please feel free to check out; read and comment on my updated review for ‘Shada’ by clicking on the link for it. This contains a review on the TV story as well as a review on the 2012 novelization/audiobook by Gareth Roberts, read by Lalla Ward with John Leeson as the voice of K-9.
You can purchase ‘Doctor Who – The Collection – Season 17’ on Blu-ray either from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.
Enjoy!
Bye for now!
Tim. 🙂
