Quick Trailer Thoughts – ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One’ and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s been a while since I shared thoughts on movie trailers, hasn’t it? This week, we’ve had two trailers for two exciting movies – ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One’ and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ – that are coming out soon at the cinema. Let me share my thoughts on these trailers.

‘MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING: PART ONE’

This coming Saturday, I’ll be checking out Tom Cruise in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ at the cinema. So, it’s fitting that the trailer for the seventh ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie should come out this week. I’m looking forward to seeing ‘Part One’ of ‘Dead Reckoning’ at the cinema when it comes in July 2023. 🙂

This is of course the first of a two-part story featuring Tom Cruise back as Ethan Hunt with the rest of his IMF team in the ‘M:I’ film series. This is essentially the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’/‘Avengers: Endgame’ equivalent of a double bill feature film event in the ‘M:I’ film series. It does feel exciting. 🙂

As well as Tom Cruise, it’ll be nice to see other familiar actors back as their characters like Ving Rhames as Luther, Simon Pegg as Benji and Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa. Vanessa Kirby is also returning to play Alanna Mitsopolis from ‘Fallout’ and there’s Henry Czerny who was in the first ‘M:I’ movie. 🙂

Hayley Atwell is also going to be in the film with Tom Cruise, playing a character called Grace. By the way, is it just me or did Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell drive around in Bumblebee from ‘Transformers’ in the trailer? 😀 I wonder if Tom Cruise is recreating 2017’s ‘Mummy’ for this film. 😀

There’s also Pom Klementieff from the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films in this movie as well as Rob Delaney, Indira Varma from ‘Torchwood’ and Mark Gatiss (he gets everywhere that man, doesn’t he? :D). All in all, this looks to be a promising ‘Part One’ of a ‘M:I’ movie to look forward to in July 2023. 🙂

‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’

This is like the second trailer we’ve had so far for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. Anyway, this is the latest ‘MCU’ film to look forward to at the cinema in July 2022, starring Chris Hemsworth who returns as Thor as well as Natalie Portman back as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor. I look forward to seeing Natalie Portman in this.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is likely to be of the same tone as ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, especially as the film is being written and directed by Taika Waititi. Somehow I’m not really bothered by that. I’m expecting to this be a fun-filled film and I’m sure there will be entertainment galore on all counts in story and characters. 🙂

It’ll be interesting to see Christian Bale (well-known as Batman in ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’) play a villain this time for this ‘MCU’ film. The film will also feature the return of Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Taika Waititi as Korg. Russell Crowe will also appear as Zeus in this particular ‘Thor’ film.

The Guardians of the Galaxy, including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Dave Bautist as Drax the Destroyer, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Vin Desel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, will also appear in this, following on from ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

It was a shock that the trailer implied Chris Hemsworth will end up butt-naked once Russell Crowe as Zeus did the ‘flip’. Then again, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ did feature an ‘anus’ in the film, so there you go. No matter what this film will be like, I’m looking forward to be entertained by ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.

Thanks for reading my thoughts and for watching the trailers. Hope you’re looking forward to these movies as much as I am.

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
