Blu-ray reviews – ‘Eve of the Daleks’ & ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

There’s still some time to reflect on Jodie Whittaker’s era of ‘Doctor Who’ before we say goodbye to her. Before we see the Thirteenth Doctor’s departure in the upcoming BBC Centenary Special, let’s check out the two recent ‘Doctor Who’ specials featuring Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor that were shown in January and April this year.

Both specials star Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, Mandip Gill as Yaz and John Bishop as Dan. There’s ‘Eve of the Daleks’ with special guest stars Aisling Bea as Sarah, Adjani Salmon as Nick and Nicholas Briggs as the voice of the Daleks. And there’s ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ with special guest stars Crystal Yu as Madam Ching and Craige Els as Marsissus, the Chief Sea Devil.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my latest reviews of ‘Eve of the Daleks’ and ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ by clicking the links for them. You can purchase ‘Eve of the Daleks’ and ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’ on a single DVD/Blu-ray disc set from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.

Enjoy!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂

    Hi Tim.

I greatly enjoyed your updated reviews of ‘Eve of the Daleks’ and ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’. I like how you’ve based most of it upon my comments on your original reviews. I’m hoping to do my own reviews of both stories soon. I could buy them on Blu-Ray, but I’m trying to save money, so I might just watch them on BBC iPlayer.

It will be nice to see Tegan again, as well as Ace, despite the continuity that might have to be resolved. Going back to Season 21 from when I commented on ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’, I felt as though Tegan was quite lenient towards the Doctor in that season. As for her departure, maybe it could have been better, but it kind of felt similar to Nyssa’s departure in ‘Terminus’. I’ll have to compare them both in my ‘Resurrection’ review.

I’ve been meaning to check out more ‘Time Lord Victorious’ products. So far I’ve only experienced ‘The Knight, the Fool and the Dead’ and watched the ‘Daleks’ YouTube series. I’d most like to listen to the Big Finish audio drama ‘Genetics of the Daleks’, having been interested in listening to it because of one of the guest cast members. Can you guess which one?

As well as ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’, I will also be reviewing ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’ and ‘The Leisure Hive’ soon. I will also be posting about my experience of the ‘Bedford Who Charity Con’.

    Take care, WF92.

      Hi WF92,

Glad you enjoyed my updated reviews on ‘Eve of the Daleks’ and ‘Legend of the Sea Devils’. I look forward to your reviews on the episodes someday. I also look forward to Ace and Tegan appearing in the next ‘Doctor Who’ episode that is Jodie Whittaker’s swansong. I hope you’ll get to enjoy more ‘Time Lord Victorious’ stuff, including the Big Finish auios. Wow! I didn’t know Jill Greenacre was in ‘Genetics of the Daleks’. 😀 I look forward to your upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ reviews and your memories of ‘Bedford Who Charity Con 6’.

      Many thanks for your comments.

      Tim 🙂

        Hi Tim.

“Wow! I didn’t know Jill Greenacre was in ‘Genetics of the Daleks’. 😀”

Erm, no. I was actually referring to Pippa Haywood. That being said though, I would love it if Jill Greenacre was in a Doctor Who Big Finish audio, especially a Fifth Doctor story with Peter, Sarah and Janet.

P.s. my copy of Season 22 on Blu-Ray arrived a few hours ago.

        Take care, WF92.

        Hi WF92,

“Erm, no. I was actually referring to Pippa Haywood.”

I know that, IT WAS A JOKE! 😀 I actually reviewed the dratted audio to know that – https://bradleybasement.wordpress.com/sci-fi/doctor-who/doctor-who-timelines/the-doctors-timelines-index/the-fourth-doctors-timeline/genetics-of-the-daleks-tlv-audio/

Actually, a Big Finish audio featuring Jill Greenarce with Peter, Sarah and Janet would be nice. Yep, my copy of Season 22 on Blu-ray came today. Big Finish have also emailed to say they’ve sent my CD copy of ‘Back to Earth’ with Christopher Eccleston in the post.

        Tim 🙂
