Basement News – November 2022

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And yes! We’re back on track with another ‘Basement News’ blog post to make up for the absence of a ‘Basement News’ blog post in October, which was taken by the ‘Basement Update’ blog post I shared in that month. This will also be the last ‘Basement News’ blog post for 2022, as there won’t be one in December. I’ll make up for that when it comes to announcing the ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar’ at the end of November.

Things on my blog have been mostly quiet in October, but I have been busy regarding the setup of the 60th anniversary celebrations of ‘Doctor Who’ in 2023, including the two-part 60th anniversary special I’m currently writing before I share it next year. Things are going well in terms of the writing. I’m proof-reading ‘Part One’ before I get on to writing ‘Part Two’. I hope to share details about my upcoming 60th anniversary special soon. Or perhaps I’m sharing them already. Keep a look out. 😀

I’m halfway with uploading my blog posts for the ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar’ I’m looking forward to sharing in December. I’ll share what the advent calendar is about at the end of November. I’m also uploading 60th anniversary-related blog posts of ‘Doctor Who’ for 2023, which is likely to be ongoing for the rest of 2022 leading into 2023. Hopefully, all the 60th anniversary blog posts I intend to share will be up on my blog by the end of 2023. 🙂 I’ve also updated my review on ‘The Abominable Snowmen’ featuring Patrick Troughton’s Doctor, based on the recent Blu-ray release that features animation episodes.

I’m continuing to check out ‘Doctor Who’ stories featuring Nyssa for the upcoming ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from December 2022 to January 2023. I’m looking forward to sharing my reviews on the ‘Forty’ stories featuring Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor as well as the ‘Tenth Doctor, Classic Companions’ stories featuring David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor. There will also be updated reviews on certain Nyssa stories to enjoy.

In September, I shared my holiday report of going to Amroth in West Wales this year. I greatly enjoyed the return to Amroth. Soon, I’ll be attending another comic con – the ‘London Comic Con Winter’. I’ll be attending the Sunday only where I hope to see Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like I’ll be seeing Sarah Sutton again in 2022, as she’ll be attending a convention in New York along with Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, Sophie Aldred, Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, etc. I would like to go to that convention, if only it wasn’t so far away. 😦 Hopefully I’ll see Sarah Sutton and other ‘Doctor Who’ guests again sometime soon in 2023.

I shared my latest ‘convention memories’ blog post on attending ‘Pandorica 2014’ back in September 2014 this year. I’ll be sharing two more ‘convention memories’ blog posts soon in November. On the 23rd of November, it’ll be the 59th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’. I’ll be sharing a couple of blog posts to celebrate the occasion. I’ve seen ‘The Power of the Doctor’ featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, which I enjoyed greatly. I’m also looking forward to the Season 2 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ featuring William Hartnell as the First Doctor. Oh, and I suppose I’m looking forward to David Tennant’s return as the Fourteenth Doctor in the 60th anniversary specials of ‘Doctor Who’ on TV in November 2023. 😀

It looks like there won’t be a Christmas Special or a New Year’s Day Special to look forward to at the end of 2022/the beginning of 2023. Have no fear though. I’ll be sharing a ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. I’ve already shared a preview of ‘Return to Christmas’ at the end of September to celebrate 7 years of my blog. The complete story of ‘Return to Christmas’ will be shared on my blog sometime in December this year.

I have seen some films on Disney+ in October, but I haven’t been able to review them. Hopefully, I’ll be able to put together a brief overview of some of the films I’ve seen on Disney+ recently. Whether it’ll be in November or December, I don’t know. In the meantime, check out my recent reviews on 2022’s ‘Pinocchio’, ‘Bambi 2’, 2011’s ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ and 1973’s ‘Robin Hood’. I’ve also shared my thoughts on the ‘Spy Kids’ movies and I’ve seen ‘Black Adam’ at the cinema.

Also on Disney+, I’ve seen the ‘MCU’ series ‘Moon Knight’. I’m taking a break from watching more ‘MCU’ shows, as I’m currently checking out ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, one of the latest ‘Star Wars’ shows, which I’m enjoying so far. I’m hoping to check out ‘The Santa Clauses’ on Disney+ after that and then check out Season 3 of ‘The Orville’ before I see more ‘MCU’ shows on Disney+. I’ve also seen Series 3 of the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ series on Channel 5 in the UK. And I’ve completed my reviews on Series 4 of the BBC sitcom TV series ‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum’.

It is a challenge to keep on top of everything, especially with the 60th anniversary celebrations of ‘Doctor Who’ coming up. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get everything sorted before we get to December and before 2023 arrives. Whatever happens, I still hope to keep you entertained and I’m sure it’ll be worth it once you’ve seen what I’m hoping to share on my blog in the next couple of months. I’m also hoping it won’t be long before I see Sarah Sutton again at a convention after I’ve seen Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant in London this month.

In the meantime, thank you for continuing to support ‘Bradley’s Basement’ and please continue to keep safe. 🙂 Stay tuned! Hope to share a news update at the end of November in time before the 2022 advent calendar on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ begins. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂

    Hi Tim.

It’s good to see another ‘Basement News’ from you. Sorry I’m a bit late in commenting on it.

There’s quite a few things you’ve listed on here that I haven’t even purchased, let alone gotten to viewing/listening to. I own ‘The Abominable Snowmen’ on Blu-Ray so I hope to get around to watching it soon. Hopefully I’ll get around to purchasing ‘Forty 2’ soon as well.

Interesting you’ve watched and reviewed the ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ movie starring Gary Oldman. I did read a bit of your review and I saw that you didn’t enjoy the movie all that much. I also saw that you looked at negative reviews of it on IMDB. That site isn’t very reliable. I’ll probably read the original novel by John Le Carre and watch the tv series starring Sir Alec Guinness before checking out the movie version.

You know I recently contacted Network Distributing Limited about releasing ‘The Moon Stallion’ on DVD/Blu-Ray? Well I thought about asking them if they might consider re-releasing ‘The Brittas Empire’. That being said though, I am aware that Eureka Video handled the original DVD, but then again their license for the series could have expired. Also, Britbox still don’t have series 6 and 7 available, even though they do for American subscribers.

P.s. have you been following the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup?

    Take care, WF92.

      Hi WF92.

Glad you enjoyed my latest ‘Basement News’ blog post. That’s alright. We’ve all been pretty busy lately and I haven’t had the chance to do many Disney+ movie reviews. Hopefully I can do a summary on the latest movies I’ve seen on Disney+, but it’ll depend on how much I have to balance out in terms of writing my 60th anniversary special of ‘Doctor Who’ for 2023 as well as preparing for my Advent Calendar coming out this December.

Hope you’ll enjoy ‘The Abominable Snowmen’ when you see it as well as the ‘Forty 2’ box set. I’ve started revisiting the ‘Short Trips: Transmissions’ book for ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ before I can get onto checking out and reviewing ‘Tenth Doctor, Classic Companions’. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’. Yeah, I probably should have seen the TV series with Sir Alec Guinness first before seeing the 2011 film and maybe I will someday. I reviewed the 2011 film on a first viewing experience. My Mum chose the 2011 film to watch on Disney+ and even after we saw it, my parents and I didn’t enjoy it. Maybe my mind will change on the movie should I ever revisit it, but it’s not likely.

I’m surprised Britbox doesn’t have Series 6 and 7 of ‘The Brittas Empire’ in the UK but it’s available on the US version of Britbox. That is pecuilar. I haven’t been following the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, as I don’t watch sports much on TV.

Many thanks for your comments. Hope to be in touch again soon.

      Tim 🙂
