‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2022 begins tomorrow!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog where Christmas time is served! And I’m Tim Bradley! 🙂

Yes, it’s that time again where we celebrate the end of the year with Christmas festivities, which will start tomorrow in December. Sadly, I haven’t been able to update my Christmas wallpaper, as the one I’m using for this year’s Christmas is the one I’ve been using for 2020 and 2021, which is a shame. 😦

I’m sure you don’t mind that though, as it’s festive enough. 😀 Hopefully, when it comes to 2023, I’ll have a special wallpaper ready for my blog to celebrate 60 years of ‘Doctor Who’. Speaking of which, this year’s ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar, which starts tomorrow, is very ‘Doctor Who’-themed.

In the first 24 days of December leading up to Christmas, I’ll be sharing thoughts on video clips from the official ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel on stories from Season 12 with Tom Baker and stories from Season 19 with Peter Davison. Seasons 12 and 19 have had Blu-ray box set releases and they both came out in 2018. 🙂

With Season 12, we’ll be looking at video clips from the four ‘Doctor Who’ stories ‘Robot’, ‘The Ark In Space’, ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ and ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’. With Season 19, we’ll be looking at video clips from the four ‘Doctor Who’ stories ‘Castrovalva’, ‘Four To Doomsday’, ‘Black Orchid’ and ‘Earthshock’. 🙂

This is going to be very exciting, and I hope you’ll enjoy my thoughts on what I make of these video clips from the ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel from the stories featured in Seasons 12 and 19. It’s been really nice to revisit these stories and to see Sarah Jane and Harry with Tom Baker’s Doctor as well as Nyssa, Tegan and Adric with Peter Davison’s Doctor. 🙂

No ‘Basement News’ blog post for this month, as was the case for the Decembers of previous years, but here’s a preview of what’s to come on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ in December and beyond anyway. As well as the advent calendar, I’ll be sharing four sets of Christmas-themed reviews on four sets of Christmas films.

I’ll be sharing my reviews on ‘The Santa Clause’ film trilogy, starring Tim Allen (I’m looking forward to checking out ‘The Santa Clauses’ series on Disney+ soon). I’ll also be sharing my reviews on the 1993 film remake of ‘Miracle on 34th Street’, starring Richard Attenborough and Mara Wilson, the 1947 film ‘The Bishop’s Wife’, starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven, and the short 2005 CGI-animated film ‘It’s a Boy’, with its title song sung by Sir Cliff Richard.

There’s my upcoming ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season to look forward to, which will be from the 26th of December 2022 to the 2nd of January 2023. This will include updated reviews on stories I’ve already reviewed on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ as well as reviews on the three stories from the two ‘Forty’ box sets by Big Finish with Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor, and reviews on the three stories in the ‘Tenth Doctor, Classic Companions’ box set by Big Finish with David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor.

As well as ‘The Santa Clauses’ series on Disney+, I hope I’ll be able to see ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ in the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ series. In terms of movies at the cinema, I’m bound to see ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and I’m likely to see ‘Matilda the Musical’ either on the big screen or on Netlfix. My parents and I are looking forward to seeing limited re-releases of the Christmas films ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Elf’ sometime soon at the cinema.

Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be a festive ‘Doctor Who’ special for Christmas Day in 2022, nor on New Year’s Day in 2023. The TV series will return in November 2023 next year for the show’s 60th anniversary. I hope there will be something ‘Doctor Who’-related to look forward to over Christmas, whether it’d be on TV, DVD, Blu-ray or via the ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel. In the meantime, there’s my upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special with the Daleks to look forward to this December called ‘Return to Christmas’, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. You can see a preview of the story here.

I’m currently in the process of finishing writing my upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ 60th anniversary special for ‘Bradley’s Basement’ called ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’. Writing this ‘Doctor Who’ special has been a lot of fun, though it has been a challenge to write for lots of Doctors and companions. I’m sure you will find the adventure entertaining when it comes to it being released sometime in 2023. There are also other ‘Doctor Who’ 60th anniversary-related blog posts and reviews to look forward to next year, so stay tuned. 🙂

I’m hoping there’ll be a Christmas Special of the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ TV series on Channel 5 this year and I’m sure there’ll be a Christmas Special of ‘Call the Midwife’ on BBC One to look forward to. As with Christmas every year, I’ll have to purchase the Christmas edition of this year’s ‘Radio Times’ to find out whether both Christmas Specials are happening and what else there is to look forward to in December.

There is more news and updates to share, but I think we’ll leave it there for today. I hope you’ll enjoy ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar this year, with ventures into ‘Doctor Who’ video clips from its official YouTube channel each day. Keep watching this space for more news and updates and I hope you’ll enjoy the build-up to Christmas this year.

The first blog post of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar will be shared tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
