CD review – ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Primary Phase’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve created a new page about Douglas Adams on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. I’ve also reviewed the first of ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ radio series by Douglas Adams called ‘Primary Phase’. This is a series I’ve wanted to check out and review on my blog for quite some time. I’m glad I’ve been able to review the first ‘Hitchhiker’s’ radio series as a starting point. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #6

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And we’ve come to the end of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. To finish off, we’re taking a look at the lost story called ‘Shada’, which was meant to be the season finale to Season 17, but was cancelled due to strike action happening in 1979. My review on the original ‘Shada’ is based on the 2021 ‘definitive version’ of the story in the Season 17 Blu-ray box set. I’ve combined both my reviews on the 1992 VHS version and the 2017 movie version of the ‘Shada’ story for this review. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #5

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The Nimon be praised! 😀 Yes, it’s time for ‘The Horns of Nimon’, the fifth story featured in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is by Anthony Read, the previous script editor of the show before Douglas Adams came along. Tom Baker is back as the Fourth Doctor, along with Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). They’re joined by the late Graham Crowden as Soldeed as well as the minotaur-like Nimons. Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And we come to the fourth story in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. It’s time for ‘Nightmare of Eden’, a four-part adventure by the late Bob Baker, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure has drug-smuggling and the monstrous Mandrels in it. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the third story of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. Today, we take a look at ‘The Creature From The Pit’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, who are joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). The story also features Myra Frances as Lady Adrasta, Geoffrey Bayldon as Organon and a peculiar alien creature called Erato. 😀 In terms of the story’s concepts and ideas, they’re very good. The overdose of humour and the execution of the titular ‘creature from the pit’ have a lot to be desired though. 😀 Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We continue checking out Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker by taking a look at the second story in the season called ‘City of Death’. This is my second favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story in the entire series (the first of course being ‘Black Orchid’). The story has Paris in 1979; Julian Glover as the villain; a cameo of John Cleese and Eleanor Bron; and an enjoyable comedy-drama plot by Douglas Adams, based on the ideas by David Fisher. Continue reading

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Last Christmas, I received the Season 17 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker. It’s time to check out the six stories featured in that season, as I’ve updated my reviews on them. Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). Continue reading

Novelization Review – ‘Doctor Who and the Pirate Planet’

Hello everyone. 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Once again, like with ‘City of Death’, I’m tackling a ‘Doctor Who’ Target novelization that is a slimmer and condensed version of the juicer and more fleshed-out novelization of ‘The Pirate Planet’ by Douglas Adams and James Goss. Please feel free to check out my thoughts on the slimmer book version of ‘Doctor Who and the Pirate Planet’. Continue reading

Quick Book Review – ‘Doctor Who and the Library of Time’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

With the upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ Target novelizations on their way this month, I’ve checked out the sampler book ‘Doctor Who and the Library of Time’. This was featured in issue #561 of ‘Doctor Who Magazine’. I’m glad I’ve checked this book out to get an idea what the new Target books will be like. Continue reading

Celebrating 55 Years of ‘Doctor Who’ #8

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Are you excited about this one? Today we celebrate the Eighth Doctor era in ‘Doctor Who’ for the 55th anniversary. Paul McGann had one story in his TV tenure as the Eighth Doctor in 1996 (two if you count ‘The Night of the Doctor’ as well). Now he’s had plenty of adventures in books, audios and comics.
