DVD Review – ‘Pigskin Parade’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Having reviewed quite a number of Judy Garland films over the years, it only makes sense for me to review her earliest film appearance that may well be her film debut before she became famous in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. It’s time to take a look at ‘Pigskin Parade’, a 1936 musical comedy film about a game of American football, which incidentally is played in a snowstorm. 😀 Continue reading

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to the fourth and final instalment of this year’s ‘Judy Garland Film Review Season’!

To conclude this film review season, I’m tackling the 1954 film ‘A Star is Born’, starring Judy Garland and James Mason. This is considered one of Judy Garland’s best works in film and is an epic classic. It’s also one out of four films made under the same name, though I haven’t seen the other three films yet. DVD Review – ‘Summer Stock’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to the third instalment of this year’s ‘Judy Garland Film Review Season’!

It’s time to take a look at a film featuring Judy Garland which was made in 1950. This film is called ‘Summer Stock’ and it has her pairing up with Gene Kelly, who is well-known for starring in the 1952 film ‘Singin’ in the Rain’. Judy and Gene worked together before in the 1942 film called ‘For Me and My Gal’. Continue reading

DVD Review – ‘Presenting Lily Mars’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And welcome to the second instalment of this year’s ‘Judy Garland Film Review Season’!

We’re going back in time to before Judy Garland did ‘Easter Parade’ with Fred Astaire and to one of her earliest and perhaps breakthrough films which arguably features her first adult-type role. Unless you consider ‘For Me and My Gal’ to be her first adult-type role, but I’ll have to watch and review that film another time. Continue reading

And welcome to the first instalment of this year’s ‘Judy Garland Film Review Season’!

As it’s Easter Monday today, I thought it’d be good to start off the ‘Judy Garland Film Review Season’ by looking into an Easter movie called ‘Easter Parade’. This 1948 film stars Judy Garland and Fred Astaire in their only film outing together. My parents and I enjoyed watching this film in 2020 and recently for 2021. Continue reading

Cinema Experience – ‘The Wizard of Oz’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

This week, I saw a re-release of the 1939 film, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ starring Judy Garland, at Showcase Cinemas in Nantgarw, Cardiff. It was great to see the film on the big screen with my parents.
