It’s funny. For a long time, I’ve never considered the idea of Roald Dahl‘s ‘Matilda’ being a musical that seriously. The stage show had a trial run in Stratford-upon-Avon from 2010 to 2011 before it had its West End premiere in 2011. Apparently, it’s a popular stage show, yet I’ve not seen it myself.

It’s amazing to think that it’s been 15 years since the film ‘Enchanted’ was made in 2007. I’ve now seen ‘Disenchanted’, the sequel to ‘Enchanted’, which was released on Disney+ in 2022. I’m amazed this film was only released exclusively to Disney+, since it could have had a limited theatrical release.

So, this is a musical film that I saw on Disney+ last Friday. Apparently, ‘Into the Woods’ was released at cinemas in December 2014 and is based on the 1986 Broadway musical of the same name. I of course knew nothing about the stage musical and wasn’t aware the film was released in late 2014. 😐

Some of these black-and-white musical films are very enjoyable to check out, especially in the time period they come from.

Having reviewed quite a number of Judy Garland films over the years, it only makes sense for me to review her earliest film appearance that may well be her film debut before she became famous in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. It’s time to take a look at ‘Pigskin Parade’, a 1936 musical comedy film about a game of American football, which incidentally is played in a snowstorm. 😀

Last year, I saw the Disney/Pixar film called ‘Soul’, which was released via Disney+ on Christmas Day 2020. This year, I saw the film called ‘Encanto’, which was initially released for a short period of time at cinemas in November 2021 before it was soon re-released via Disney+ on Christmas Eve in 2021. 🙂

I’d like to share some thoughts on a movie I’ve seen recently on Disney+. This is ‘Enchanted’, a 2007 film which I saw on the big screen when it came out in November/December of that year. My parents saw the film for the first time on Disney+ and they greatly enjoyed it. I’m very glad they did.

I’ve seen another film on Disney+ called ‘The Country Bears’. This film was released in 2002 and it’s a musical road comedy directed by Peter Hastings. It happens to be based on the Disney theme park attraction called ‘Country Bear Jamboree’. I’ve yet to attend Disneyland and its various attractions. 🙂

To conclude this film review season, I’m tackling the 1954 film ‘A Star is Born’, starring Judy Garland and James Mason. This is considered one of Judy Garland’s best works in film and is an epic classic. It’s also one out of four films made under the same name, though I haven’t seen the other three films yet.

Yes! You’re seeing this right! I’ve seen the movie ‘High School Musical’! It’s ironic to be talking about this movie. For a while, I wasn’t particularly interested in seeing it. It’s clearly had a fan-base since its release on the Disney Channel in 2006. I’m amazed by how much of an impact it’s had pretty lately.
