SERIES 4, EPISODE 6
Please feel free to comment on my review.
Jeeves and Wooster attend the wedding of Madeline and Spode. Tuppy Glossop returns with Lady Florence Craye; Aunt Agatha; Sir Watkyn Bassett and Constable Oates with Brinkley from Series 2.
This episode tells of the theft of the Junior Ganymede Club book. The book was stolen by Brinkley to nobble on the election campaign that’s occurring in Totleigh between Labour and the Conservatives.
Bertie gets into trouble when he gets engaged to Lady Florence and Madeline at the same time. Both Bertie and Jeeves try to get the club book back to weaken Spode in standing for parliament.
The series ends rather unsatisfactorily during the wedding ceremony of Spode and Madeline. Everyone seems to blame Bertie for the church to erupt with water as he and Jeeves get chased around the church a lot. It was very unsatisfying and didn’t fulfil the conclusion to this show for me.
I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Jeeves and Wooster. Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie have been brilliant together and I hope they’ll come back to play Bertie and Jeeves in a Christmas Special someday, perhaps based on the latest novel ‘Jeeves and the Wedding Bells’ by Sebastian Faulks.
‘Series 4, Episode 6’ rating – 9/10
