‘The Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show 1975’ (TV)

Please feel free to comment on my review.

The sixth Christmas Special is one of my favourites out of the remaining three in the BBC version of ‘The Morecambe & Wise Show’. This Christmas Special features two superb guest stars in the list here.

They are singer Des O’Connor and actress Diana Rigg. There’s also actor Gordon Jackson, broadcaster and commentator Robin Day, singers Diane Solomon and Brenda Arnau; actress Ann Hamilton; etc. 😀

I’m fond of the running gag story where Des O’Conner tries to get in on Eric and Ernie’s show to sing. The famous opening scene where Eric and Ernie meet Des (who’s been the butt of their jokes) is magic.

‘The Avengers’ star Diana Rigg also appears twice in the show. She’s first in a psychiatrist sketch and then in an Ernie Wise play of ‘Nell Gwynne’. She is pretty funny in the two sketches with Eric and Ernie.

Gordon Jackson from ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ also appears in the ‘Nell Gwynne’ play. I have seen ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ years ago. It was very surreal to see Gordon Jackson with Morecambe & Wise.

There’s another interspersed sketch where broadcaster Robin Day turns his ‘friendly’ discussion with Ernie Wise into a brawl. Eric and Ernie star as dancers in a ‘Big Spender’ parody sung by Brenda Arnau.

‘The Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show 1975’ rating – 9/10
