‘Dawn of the Dwaxi’, Part Four, Chapter 13

13. Dwaxi Riots

Roll original 1982 Peter Davison opening credits.

REPRISE

NYSSA
“Alexandra, stay back!”

BILLY
“Yeah Alex, keep away from him!”

Sean continues to smash up storage boxes, ferociously and aggressively. Alexandra looks in horror and utter bewilderment.

ALEXANDRA
(cries; upset) “Stop it, Sean! Stop it!!!”

Sean stops smashing things up and holds the metal pole up against Alexandra’s face.

SEAN
(shouts; angrily) “I warned you, Alexandra! Want me to make another?!”

Alexandra backs away nervously, as she, Nyssa and Billy are astounded by Sean’s abrupt and unexpected hostile behaviour. Sean now holds his metal pole up towards all three of them.

SEAN
(threateningly; yells) “I warned you, lot. I’m being serious! Don’t make me use this again! Unless you really wish to be clubbed to death!!!”

(CONTINUES INTO:)

SCENE #141B – INT – STOREROOM, GLASS & HOUND – DAY, EVENING

NYSSA
(condescendingly) “Now Sean. Please try and calm down. Let’s sort this out, shall we?”

BILLY
“Yeah, Sean. Let’s sit and talk. Whatever’s the matter, we can help…”

SEAN
“You just don’t get it, do you?! I am your enemy! You should be scared of me!”

NYSSA
(firmly) “Sean, there isn’t time for this. The Dwaxi will soon take over and…”

SEAN
“But that’s just it, you see. I’ve arranged for this trap to catch you both. Though I didn’t anticipate you Nyssa being here so soon when the boys caught you. You’ve made my life easier, you know.”

BILLY
(astonished) “Sean?! You didn’t flinch. We’ve just said Dwaxi and you didn’t even flinch.”

NYSSA
“You know them, Sean?!”

SEAN
(laughs; mockingly) “Of course I do. After all, I am in charge of them.”

BILLY
“Now come off it, Sean. If this is your idea of a joke, it’s not funny! The Dwaxi are trouble and if we don’t stop them…”

SEAN
(sharply) “Billy, I’m deadly serious! I work with the Dwaxi! I serve their cause! And you lot are going to go through hell when you realise it’s best not to fight against them!”

NYSSA
(astounded) “You really mean it don’t you, Sean. You’ve known about the Dwaxi all the time.”

BILLY
“I don’t believe it! You Sean, my best friend, working for the Dwaxi?!”

ALEXANDRA
(appalled) “How can you, Sean?!”

SEAN
(to Billy) “I’ve known about you Billy and your travels in time and space with your two freaky friends. Think I wouldn’t miss out of the fun you had?”

BILLY
“You know about me travelling in the TARDIS?”

SEAN
“Of course, you selfish best friend of mine.”

BILLY
(shocked) “Sean, I’ve never known you to be like this before. My best friend…”

SEAN
“Oh come on, Billy! You’re so naïve to even notice! Did you think I’d be like this for nothing?!”

ALEXANDRA
(bitterly) “I knew you were dirt, Sean. But I didn’t think you’d stoop to this level working with these trash losers!”

Rick then hits Alexandra and she cries out in pain.

RICK
“Shut up, cow!”

SEAN
“Easy, Rick! That’s my wife you just hit there!”

NYSSA
“You weren’t suffering from epilepsy were you, Sean. It was just playacting, wasn’t it?!”

SEAN
(giggles) “I’ll never forget the look on Billy’s face when he looked so concerned for me earlier. It was so funny! I laughed all the way back from the hospital!”

BILLY
(horrified) “Sean, that’s enough!”

SEAN
(teasingly, mimics Billy’s voice) “Sean, Sean? Are you alright?! Wake up, Sean?! Wake up?!”

Sean laughs out loud whilst Billy’s upset.

BILLY
“Sean, stop it! I was worried about you! You shouldn’t have done that?!”

SEAN
(taunts) “Oh shouldn’t I, Billy?! Since you seem to be selfish enough to go off on your travels and leave your best friend behind, I’d say it’s the punishment you deserve.”

BILLY
“It was never like that, Sean.”

SEAN
“So you say!”

NYSSA
“Why did you do it, Sean?! Why were you trying to make out you were suffering epilepsy?!”

SEAN
“Oh come on, Nyssa. Figure it out! I was arranging it as a set-up! To make you lot suspect me less than you already did! In a way it kind of worked!”

NYSSA
(angrily) “You almost ran over my boyfriend! Your best friend!”

SEAN
(teasingly) “Yeah. I nearly did, didn’t I?”

NYSSA
(shocked) “I can’t believe a word I’m hearing. Are you really so callous, Sean?! Aren’t you in the slightest ashamed you nearly killed Billy…?”

SEAN
(dismissively) “Oh do shut it will you, Nyssa?!”

ALEXANDRA
(shocked) “Have you lost your marbles?! Sean, what is it with you?!”

SEAN
“I arranged it for the Dwaxi Directors. That’s all I’ve got to be proud of.”

BILLY
“Directors again, Nyssa.”

NYSSA
“Who are these Directors, Sean? Tell us who they are and what they want!”

SEAN
“Oh you’ll meet them! You’ll definitely meet the Directors! Eventually.”

ALEXANDRA
“Sean, will you please tell me what all this is about?!”

SEAN
(to Rick) “Rick?! Take these two downstairs. The wife stays here.”

NYSSA
“Are we your prisoners then?!”

SEAN
“Take them I say! Do it will you?!”

RICK
(to Nyssa; Billy) “Right, you two! Come with me!”

The thugs advance as they’re about to grab hold of Nyssa and Billy and take them downstairs.

BILLY
(shouts) “Now! Nyssa, run!”

The shout causes the thugs to be distracted for a moment, as Billy head-butts one of them. This gives Nyssa a chance to escape, whilst Billy finds himself caught among a group of thugs fighting him. Nyssa runs for the backdoor as Sean sees her.

SEAN
(shouts) “Stop her! Stop Nyssa!”

But Nyssa gets to the door and opens it before turning back to Billy.

NYSSA
(cries) “Billy!”

BILLY
“Run, Nyssa! Run for your life!”

Billy gets knocked about by some of the thugs, whilst Nyssa gets out through the door and slamming it shut behind her. The door hits one of the thugs in the face and he cries out in pain. Sean comes beside the thugs.

SEAN
(cruelly) “Stop whining, you!” (to others) “You lot! Don’t let Billy boy get away!”

The mods and rockers block Billy’s path as they punch him, beat him and knock him about before he ends up on the floor. Sean stands over Billy and looks over him mockingly.

SEAN
“Really, Billy. Self-sacrifice doesn’t become you!”

Sean then turns to Rick.

SEAN
(insistently) “Rick! Go after the girl! Bring her back here!”

RICK
“What me?!”

SEAN
“Yes you! Go on! Go after her!”

Rick and some of his gang go out after Nyssa to bring her back, as they run through the backdoor.

SCENE #142 – INT – ALLEYWAY, CHURCHWOOD STREET – DAY, EVENING
Meanwhile, Nyssa is on the run as she runs along an alleyway in Churchwood Street. She stops running for a moment before she hears footsteps approaching nearby.

RICK
(shouts; from a distance) “Come on, you bozos! Find her! Find her!!!”

Nyssa starts to panic as she’s indecisive about what to do next.

NYSSA
“Hide; hide?! Where can I hide?!”

Eventually Nyssa runs on a bit further and ducks for cover, as she finds a crack between two walls and gets inside. Once concealed from view, Rick and his gang approach and run down the alley where Nyssa’s hiding.

RICK
“Some of you go down there! The rest of you follow up here!”

Two groups of thugs spilt up. One group runs in one direction whilst the other group led by Rick runs in the other, past where Nyssa is hiding.

RICK
“Move it, you worms! Move it!!!”

They move it, as the thugs go past Nyssa’s hiding place. Eventually, the footsteps die down and Nyssa breathes a sigh of relief.

NYSSA
(relieved) “Phew! That was close! Now, if only I can find where the Doctor is and tell him what’s happened. I only hope that Billy’s alright. I hope the Doctor can think of how to rescue Billy.”

A moment of silence ensues, before Nyssa steps out from her hiding place. She walks carefully, as she goes in the other direction where the boys were running. She then hears rioting close by and stands still.

NYSSA
“That sounds like a riot going on! But where?”

Nyssa moves on a bit forward, as she’s about to turn the corner. Suddenly she’s met by Dwaxi troopers who materialise via a teleport beam. They raise their weapons at her.

NYSSA
(panics) “Oh no! Back the other way!”

DWAXI TROOPER #2
(shouts) “Stay where you are, little lady! Or us lot will blow you up into a glob of stinking goo!!!”

The Dwaxi troopers charge their weapons threateningly at Nyssa. She’s about to make a run for it before she’s met by the group of thugs, led by Rick, who come up behind her in the opposite direction.

NYSSA
(distressed) “Oh no. I should have realised. I was meant to come out from my hiding place to be captured!”

RICK
(jeers; to Dwaxi Trooper #2) “Well done, trooper! You’ve managed to catch our little girl lost!”

Rick then approaches Nyssa whilst she’s surrounded by Dwaxi troopers and Rick’s thugs.

RICK
“Think you could get away from us, did you?! Think you could run away all the way home, did you?!”

Rick then smacks Nyssa in the face and she cries out in pain.

RICK
“Well think again, puny girl! You’re so pathetic and dim-witted you can’t even escape the likes of us!”

NYSSA
“You’ll see. I’ll escape the throes of those who are in league with the Dwaxi!”

RICK
“Never! Never, never, never!!!”

NYSSA
“Your certainty will wane I assure you!”

RICK
(to others) “Boys! Take this little nothing back to the pub! Mr. Black wants her back with her boyfriend! Jump to it, will you?!”

Some of Rick’s thugs grab Nyssa and take her back down the alley to return to the pub. The Dwaxi troopers eventually teleport out, whilst Rick and the rest of his gang head back to the Glass & Hound pub.

SCENE #143 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, EVENING
On Churchwood Street itself, the riots continue as mods, rockers and teddy boys cause chaos. Dwaxi troopers also appear via a teleport and join in the riots. The activity of the riots is horrendous, as windows are being smashed, shops are being burnt down and fires start to blaze caused by the rioters. The Dwaxi troopers make it worst as female Dwaxi troopers beat up the men.

FEMALE DWAXI #1
“Here, old men! Enjoy your trip! Die like the dogs you are! Stink as hell!!”

The Churchwood residents are being beaten up, kicked, spat on and even thrown into glass windows which smash. Screams, shouts and cries echo from the Dwaxi troopers as they’re without mercy. Laughs, jeers and yells echo from the Dwaxi, as they fire their firearms and shoot people down.

DWAXI TROOPER #2
(yells) “Bleed, Bleed, Bleed!!!”

The Dwaxi attacks causes terrible and violent deaths for the victims, as they convulse and fall to the ground. Spouts of blood are poured out as people get beaten up and shot at by the Dwaxi. The Dwaxi troopers stomp about in the streets with their heavy boots, as they shoot people and beat people up with the mods, rockers and teddy boys who do the same thing to innocent residents.

SCENE #144 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, EVENING
Meanwhile, the Doctor arrives on the street and hides for cover as he sees the riots occurs. He is horrified by what he sees.

DOCTOR
(disturbed) “More Dwaxi troopers are coming in! Causing whatever destruction they lust for.”

The Doctor ducks for cover, as another squadron of Dwaxi troopers materialise and joins in the riots. More screams echo and fires continue to blaze up.

DOCTOR
“It’s getting dark now, isn’t it?! And hotter!” (Pause; worries) “Oh I do hope Nyssa is alright. And Billy. They’re just nowhere to be seen.”

The Doctor continues to watch the riots go on, as they grow worse with more violence and destruction. Just then, the Doctor is given a fright as Enid and Fred turn up.

FRED
(astonished) “Doctor?! I thought I recognised you!”

DOCTOR
(calms down; relieved) “Oh! You two didn’t half startle me.” (Pause) “Mr. and Mrs. Walker. How good to see you two. What are you doing here?”

ENID
(anxiously) “Doctor, where’s Billy?! Have you seen our boy?! Where is he?!”

DOCTOR
“I don’t know where Billy is, Mrs. Walker. I only wish I knew.”

ENID
(shocked) “You don’t know?! You don’t know where Billy is?!”

FRED
(to Enid) “Enid, calm down!” (to Doctor) “Doctor, Billy went out to search for Nyssa. He said she might be at the hospital with you.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. Nyssa was at the hospital. But I haven’t seen Billy. I’m trying to look for both him and Nyssa.”

ENID
(panics) “But where are they?! Where are they?!”

FRED
“Enid, stop panicking! It’s no good panicking now!”

ENID
“Isn’t there?! Our street’s being attacked by these lunatics! These hooligans!”

FRED
“The things these people are doing. Smashing up shop windows, burning down buildings; beating people up!”

ENID
“I’ve seen women! Women beating men! Old men even! They’re behaving like monsters!”

DOCTOR
“The Dwaxi are human, Enid. And humans I’m afraid are the worst kind of monster ever created on Earth!”

FRED
“These were the men that tried to kill you three when they chased you after you stole my car! Weren’t they, Doctor?!”

DOCTOR
“The Dwaxi are advancing in their plans! They’re moving forward! But why now?! What’s prompted them? What do they hope to achieve?!”

ENID
“Never mind that. You seem to know a lot about them, Doctor. Can’t you do something to stop this?!”

DOCTOR
“I’m trying as best as I can, Mrs. Walker. But it’s rather difficult when I have to think about everything at once.” (Pause) “At the moment, I’m more concerned about Nyssa and Billy. I want to know if they’re alright.”

FRED
“As do we, Doctor. So what can we do?”

DOCTOR
(thinks) “I need to get through these Dwaxi and those gang boys causing chaos. I have a hunch Nyssa and Billy are in great danger. And if my theory’s right, they could well be in the pub that’s at the centre of the activity.”

FRED
“The pub? The Glass and Hound?”

DOCTOR
“Nyssa was meant to stop the locals drinking their drinks. Whether she’s managed to do that is another matter, but the point is…”

ENID
“The point is if she’s caught in the centre of criminal activity from these…thugs, then Billy would have followed her and both he and she would be trapped together and be threatened.”

DOCTOR
“Precisely. And if that is the case, then I’ll have to get them out of the pub to rescue them.”

FRED
“Is there a way you can do it?”

DOCTOR
“I’m sure there is. But it would mean having to take these Dwaxi out. And that would be difficult considering their strength and their…”

The Doctor stops mid-sentence. A moment of silence ensues, as the Doctor thinks.

ENID
“Doctor, what is it? Doctor?!”

DOCTOR
(gradually) “Mr. and Mrs. Walker?! You wouldn’t by any chance happen to have any water bottles in your house?”

FRED
“Err…yes. I’m certain we have, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“How many?”

FRED
“Oh about…twenty I think.”

DOCTOR
“Hmm. It should be enough.” (to Fred) “Can you take us back to your house to get them, Mr. Walker?”

FRED
“Certainly. This way, Doctor.”

ENID
“What is it you have in mind, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“You’ll see.”

The Doctor, Enid and Fred make their way carefully back to the Walkers’ house, whilst the riots continue to go on and get worse.

SCENE #145 – INT – MAIN BAR, GLASS & HOUND – DAY, EVENING
Back at the Glass & Hound pub, the locals suffer as they’ve had an intake of the Yentias drug after drinking their drinks. They crumble to the floor, gasping for breath and coughing blood whilst they suffer. Sean and Keith oversees this suffering. Billy and Alexandra also witness this.

KEITH
(taunts) “That’s it! Cough it out! Spit it out! Scream as your blood pours out, you pathetic bunch of losers!”

Men and women continue suffering, whilst Billy and Alexandra are horrified.

ALEXANDRA
(disgusted) “You sick people! Stop it! Whatever you’ve done to my guests, it’s killing them!”

BILLY
(horrified) “They’re coughing blood out!” (shouts) “Stop it, please! It’s awful! It’s disgusting what you’re doing to them!”

KEITH
“Shut it, you two!”

ALEXANDRA
(pleads) “Will you please listen to us and stop torturing these people!”

KEITH
(yells) “I said shut up, you pretty stinking woman!!!”

Keith goes over and kicks Alexandra violently as she shrieks in pain.

BILLY
(shocked) “How dare you do that, you idiot?! There was no need to do that!”

KEITH
(yells) “We want fun! And this is as freaking fun as we’re going to get!!! We love watching people suffer! This is as entertaining as it’s going to get! People sucking and spewing blood on the floor!”

Keith demonstrates this by making out he’s sick, very loudly and viciously.

BILLY
“You’ve all gone mad, you lot! You’ve all gone raving mad!”

ALEXANDRA
(cries; to Sean) “Sean, are you just going to stand there and let those poor people suffer there?! Let me suffer?! This lunatic here has just kicked me! He’s kicked your wife!”

SEAN
“Actually I kind of agree with Keith here. It is rather entertaining. I’m enjoying this. It’s like a real live horror movie, isn’t it? Only bloodier.”

ALEXANDRA
“Sean?!”

SEAN
“And as for the wife thing with Keith kicking you, I actually rather approve. It’s doing you some good, I think. Teaching you a lesson for being such a brat!”

ALEXANDRA
“Sean, how dare you?! Well I never…”

BILLY
(interjects; distressed; to Sean) “What’s got into you, Sean?! Why have you become like this?! What have you got to gain?!”

SEAN
(defiantly) “Far better than you’d ever would have, Billy boy! Better than the travels you’ve had with the Doctor and your pretty little girlfriend.”

BILLY
“Sean, please. Let’s talk about this. Let me help [you…]”

SEAN
(defiantly) “No! No!!! Not this time! Not any more! It’s my turn now! My life! I say what goes on here! And you will not tell me what to do! No-one tells Sean Black what to do!”

ALEXANDRA
“Sean!”

SEAN
(viciously; to Alexandra) “And that goes for you too, Alex! So shut your mouth!”

Alexandra is aghast and appalled by the insults she receives from Sean. At that moment, Nyssa is brought in by Rick and the others.

RICK
(jeeringly) “Hey look, Sean! I’ve brought this bit of crumpet back for you! She was easy to catch since she’s so pathetic!”

BILLY
“Nyssa?!”

NYSSA
“Billy!”

BILLY
(apologetically) “Oh Nyssa, I’m so sorry they got you! If only I could have stopped them getting [to you…]”

NYSSA
(interjects) “Billy, please don’t apologise. I underestimated them. I should have known better.”

SEAN
(to Rick; to Keith) “Rick; Keith. Take these two downstairs to the cellar. I’ll deal with them later.”

KEITH
“What about your wife, Sean?”

RICK
(taunts) “Yeah! The stupid wife! And I mean stupid!!!”

ALEXANDRA
(to Rick) “You vicious towrag…”

SEAN
(interrupts) “Take them down, will you?! Alex stays up here with me! No-one touches her! Now do as I say!”

NYSSA
(to Sean) “What are you going to do to us?! Tell your boys to shoot us in cold blood?!”

SEAN
(giggles) “No! You’re going to be savoured for the Directors. We just want to capture one member of your party who’s missing. And we need him alive.”

BILLY
“Sean, this has gone on long enough. If you could just listen…”

SEAN
(dismissively) “I’m done with listening to you two! The strategy’s already advanced! No more disguises any more! The Dwaxi will rise and the Directors will be here!”

NYSSA
“If you do anything to hurt the Doctor, I promise you Sean…”

SEAN
(dismissively; to Rick; Keith) “Take those two downstairs, you lot! I’ve had enough of their voices! Just take them to the cellar and make sure they stay!”

RICK
(to Nyssa; Billy) “Come on, you two! Down you go like rats!”

KEITH
(cruelly; to Nyssa; Billy) “Yeah! Oh how I wish we could slice you two into bits swiftly!”

Rick and Keith force Nyssa and Billy out of the storeroom and take them downstairs into the cellar. Meanwhile, Alexandra confronts Sean.

ALEXANDRA
(angrily) “I’ve had enough of you, Sean! You really have flipped it this time! I shall never forgive you for what you just told me to do…”

SEAN
(interjects; condescendingly) “Alex, my dear! I assure you things will be alright from now!”

ALEXANDRA
(angrily) “Don’t use those canoodling tactics with me, Sean. You’ve just insulted me! Do you hear what I’m saying?!”

SEAN
“You have to understand, Alex…”

ALEXANDRA
“You told me to shut up! I’m your wife, Sean! For heaven’s sake!”

SEAN
(charmingly) “You must understand, Alex. I have to be this way! For the sake of our rabble! They want to be angry! They want to be mad and blood-lusting! So I have to keep them going to make them feel that hot blood running!”

ALEXANDRA
“And you think it makes it alright for you to tell me to shut up?!”

SEAN
“Yes. Even if I insult you or say bad things about you, I still love you.”

ALEXANDRA
“I suppose if you love me, you wouldn’t hesitate kicking me, punching me, shooting me or burning me to death with fire and hell.”

SEAN
“Just show me where the matches are. Where shall I start? Your clothes or your hair?”

ALEXANDRA
(appalled) “I can’t believe I’m hearing this! Do you know what you’re saying, Sean?!”

SEAN
“I’ve never been so sure of myself in all my life!”

ALEXANDRA
(disturbed) “You’ve been going out too many times for those stories for your dad.” (Pause) “Sean, I think you need to sit down…”

SEAN
“Alex, if you can’t think of anything better to say then I think you should just shut up!”

ALEXANDRA
“And I think you should behave yourself, get your act together and tell me what’s going on!”

SEAN
“Shut up, Alexandra!”

ALEXANDRA
“I’m not having this, Sean! Tell me…”

SEAN
(yells) “Alex, will you shut up and leave me alone!!!”

ALEXANDRA
“Leave you alone?! Do you really hate me, Sean?!”

SEAN
(shrieks) “Leave me alone, woman!!!”

Sean then pushes Alexandra and she falls to the floor and cries out. Sean picks up the metal pole he used earlier and heads out of the storeroom, making into the street. Alexandra watches Sean go outside and is overcome with shock.

ALEXANDRA
(calls; weakly) “Sean?! Sean?! Please come back to me! Come back to me, I say! Come back!”

The other mods, rockers and teddy boys in the Glass & Hound surround Alexandra on the floor, as they mock, jeer and laugh at her. She struggles to get up after being thrown so violently to the floor. Meanwhile, the pub locals are now breathless and unable to get a grip of themselves as they soon start to snort, groan and growl angrily for a bit.

SCENE #146 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, EVENING
Back on the street, the riots continue to grow more vibrant and fiery as the thugs and Dwaxi troopers cause more fights and fires. Gangs of thugs fight among the residents of Churchwood Street. Some fight among each other as the rate of violence is insanely proportional and out-of-control. More people kick, spit and shoot at each other as the Dwaxi add to the violent tension.

LORD RAMGA
“Total victory is ours! Death is everywhere! Death is victory!!!”

ZURLT
“Death shall reign for ever!”

Lord Ramga, Commander Zurlt and Instigator Kolgu stroll through the street, watching what goes on with these riots and loving every minute of violence, death and absurd anger from gangs and troopers. Screams of innocent people occur, as some are being burnt alive, smashed by glass and being beaten up terribly.

KOLGU
(relished) “This reminds me a lot of home! Oh how I miss the absolute chaos we had back there!”

ZURLT
“It’s boring back where we come from! There aren’t any more people to beat up!”

KOLGU
“Except us, Commander Zurlt.”

ZURLT
“Exactly, Kolgu! Boring! There’s nobody new from our world to beat up! Innocent people who believe in hope, freedom, love and paradise! They deserve our domination! They can drop dead with their organs hanging out!”

LORD RAMGA
(delighted) “Delicious destruction everywhere! Let’s hope the Directors can give us more of the stuff!”

At that moment, Probationer Mullog turns up with a Dwaxi trooper by his side.

MULLOG
“Lord Ramga; Commander Zurlt; Instigator Kolgu! I hope you are impressed with the chaos that has already started!”

LORD RAMGA
“You’ve earned your place well in the Dwaxi empire, Mullog! But an urgent task is required for you!”

MULLOG
“What task?! The despatch of Yentias is undergoing full process…”

LORD RAMGA
“That is a task that needs to be monitored constantly! But no, this task is different to the one you are having!”

ZURLT
“We have captured the time ship of our greatest enemy! The Doctor!”

MULLOG
“The Doctor! Time ship! It is back at our base!”

LORD RAMGA
“You will return to Dwaxi command and assist Navigator Bolesh with the operation of breaking in! So you’d better do the job properly or I’ll bash your head in!”

MULLOG
(savagely) “I’d like to bash your head in too as my blood boiled in me!”

LORD RAMGA
(yells) “Do you want me to say my command again or do you want the Directors to cut your throat out?!”

MULLOG
(contemptuously) “I comply with your instructions, Ramga.”

LORD RAMGA
(bitterly) “Lord Ramga to you, Probationer Mullog!”

MULLOG
(spitefully) “Yes, Lord Ramga!”

LORD RAMGA
(bitterly) “Well go on then! Be off with you!!!”

With that, Mullog goes off to return to the Dwaxi base. Meanwhile, Kolgu receives a bleep from his comm. badge on his chest. He thumps it and turns to Lord Ramga.

KOLGU
“Lord Ramga!”

LORD RAMGA
(sharply) “What is it, Instigator?!”

KOLGU
“The Berserker is ready to be set lose! Shall I send him in?!”

LORD RAMGA
“Yes! Send him in! Let that big bozo have his freaking fun!!!”

Kolgu thumps his comm. badge on his chest again.

KOLGU
(bitterly) “Send him in! Send him in now!!!”

With that, a teleport takes place as the Berserker beams in. He lets out a horrendous shriek of rage and joy.

BERSERKER
(yells) “LET ME HAVE SOME! LET ME HAVE SOME! LET ME HAVE SOME!!!”

The Berserker charges in and leaps onto people regardless, as he beats them up, smacks their faces, kicks them and yells screams of rage. The Berserker is let loose on the streets, causing chaos as the riots roar up.

DWAXI
(chants) “Let the bodies hit the floor!!! Let the bodies hit the floor!!! Let the bodies hit the floor!!!”

The Dwaxi keep on chanting, as they cause more deaths and trouble to victims in the street. The Berserker laughs insanely as he grunts and bashes against brick walls. Meanwhile, Zurlt receives a message and informs Lord Ramga.

ZURLT
“Lord Ramga! The Dwaxi aerial fighters are ready to attack!”

LORD RAMGA
(impatiently) “Send them in! Send them in and kill people! Just get them and make people rot on the floor!”

ZURLT
(to Kolgu) “Kolgu! You give the command or I’ll smack your brains out!”

Kolgu complies as he thumps his comm. badge hard on his chest again.

KOLGU
(yells) “Dwaxi aerial fighters attack now! All troops disembark! Disembark and kill everyone!”

With that, Dwaxi aerial fighters fly over Churchwood Street. Dwaxi troopers disembark, as they fall out of the sky, screaming and yelling. They fire with their weapons, shooting and killing people whilst still in the air. The Dwaxi aerial fighters also shoot and pound down all over the street with missiles and lasers. The Dwaxi troopers from the sky land on the ground easily and stomp about. More Dwaxi chants echo, varying from…

DWAXI
(chants) “Death is victory!!! Death is victory!!! Death is victory!!! [Death is victory…]”

…to…

DWAXI
(chants) “Let the bodies hit the floor!!! Let the bodies hit the floor!!! Let the bodies hit the floor!!!”

Lord Ramga relishes the growing chaos of the riots with more Dwaxi troopers arriving.

SCENE #147 – INT – LIVING ROOM, NO. 8 – DAY, EVENING
At Enid and Fred’s house, the Doctor waits patiently as Fred brings in the water bottles.

FRED
“Here we are, Doctor! That’s the lot of them! Nineteen bottles in total.”

DOCTOR
“I thought you said it was twenty, Fred.”

FRED
“Well we can’t all be right, can we?! I thought we had twenty but either Enid or me must have drunk a bottle the other day.”

ENID
“What do you plan to do, Doctor? How are you going to use those bottles?”

DOCTOR
“The Dwaxi body metabolism contains a seventy per cent part which is Yentias, the drug they’re addicted to. It replaces the water parts of their bodies and makes them only dependent on Yentias.”

FRED
“So?”

DOCTOR
“So…the Dwaxi are threatened when their bodies come into physical contact with any drop of water. It sounds far-fetched; but pour a bottle of water on a Dwaxi trooper’s head and they’d shriek in pain.”

ENID
“And this is how we’re going to rescue Billy! Isn’t it?”

DOCTOR
“Partly. If we had more water bottles at our disposal, we’d be able to knock the Dwaxi out altogether and weaken them for a few moments.”

ENID
“Excuse me, but my husband’s doing his best here!”

DOCTOR
“I’m not disputing that. I’m very grateful for all your husband has done here.”

FRED
“Thank you, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“But it just begs the question on whether we’re going to be able to save Nyssa and Billy.”

ENID
“If you think that risk is all that matters to taking a chance to get rid of those monsters and save my boy and his girlfriend, I don’t see why you fret.”

FRED
“Enid’s right, Doctor. It’s worth trying I think.”

DOCTOR
(dubiously) “Yes. Well with the riots going on out there, I don’t see how we can’t opt to save Nyssa and Billy’s lives with these water bottles. We’ll find ourselves fried or bashed about at any rate.”

They then listen to the tumultuous rioting outside. Just then, the house’s backdoor is heard being burst open. The Doctor, Fred and Enid stagger and tremble as somebody’s coming in.

ENID
(panics) “Oh no! They’ve got us! We’re done for!”

DOCTOR
“Enid; Fred! Get out through the front door and…”

The living room door then bursts open, as Wyatt and Bruce enter. The Doctor, Enid and Fred breathe a sigh of relief.

FRED
“Calm yourselves, you two! It’s only Constable Wyatt and Bruce Simmons.”

BRUCE
“Thank goodness we’ve found some friendly faces!”

DOCTOR
“Constable; Bruce, what are you two doing here?!”

WYATT
“The street are swarming with lunatics and hooligans! I’ve never seen anything like it. In all my days as a policeman…”

BRUCE
(interrupts) “It’s a blazing inferno out there! They’ve burnt down Norton’s café!”

FRED
(shocked) “Norton’s café! Mr. Norton won’t be pleased to hear about that!”

WYATT
“It gets worse! As if that wasn’t enough, Dickson’s Laundries has been smashed to pieces!”

ENID
“Oh no! Not Dickson’s Laundries! I’ll have to do all my washing myself now.” (to Fred) “You’ll have to help me, Fred.”

FRED
“Me?!”

DOCTOR
(to Wyatt; Bruce) “Constable; Bruce? Did you see Nyssa and Billy on your way here?”

WYATT
“I was trying to avoid getting mugged by those silly boys making a muck of the street. I hadn’t got time to look out for two missing people.”

BRUCE
“I managed to see them, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Did you, Bruce?”

BRUCE
“Yes! Nyssa went into the Glass and Hound pub through the front door a while ago. About twenty minutes later, I saw Billy with Sean going to the pub but via the backdoor. Don’t ask me why, but I assume Nyssa and Billy are still in there.”

DOCTOR
“I see. Oh dear. That makes life more complicated.”

FRED
“You’re thinking of going through that rabble to save Billy and Nyssa aren’t you, Doctor?!”

DOCTOR
“Yes.”

ENID
“You have to, Doctor. Whatever danger’s there, you have to rescue our boy!”

FRED
“Enid, please!”

DOCTOR
“No, Enid’s right. I have to go in. No matter what the risk is.”

FRED
“You can’t do it by yourself. We’ll help you out!”

ENID
“Oh no, Fred! You’re not going to risk your life with the Doctor…”

FRED
(interrupts; to Enid) “I said ‘we’, Enid! That means you as well!”

ENID
(baffled) “Oh.” (Pause; moans) “Oh!”

WYATT
“You’re not seriously thinking of risking your neck to go out there, Doctor?”

Before the Doctor can answer…

BRUCE
“Hey, you lot! Listen!”

ENID
“Listen to what?”

BRUCE
(hushes) “Ssh! Just listen a minute!”

They listen, as the rioting dies down from outside.

FRED
“I can’t hear anything!”

DOCTOR
“Exactly! The riots have stopped!”

WYATT
“Stopped?! But they can’t have stopped surely! They don’t seem to give up!”

Just then, a shout echoes from the distance and they all listen.

SEAN
(shouts; from a distance) “Doctor?! Doctor, I know you’re out there! Come out and show yourself! Do you hear me?! I’ve got something to tell you, so you’d better listen! Or else!!!”

Mutters of confusion occur between Wyatt, Bruce, Enid and Fred whilst the Doctor is disturbed.

BRUCE
“That was Sean, wasn’t it?! He was just shouting, wasn’t he?!”

FRED
“That doesn’t sound like the Sean I know.”

ENID
“He must be outside in the street!”

DOCTOR
(worried) “This doesn’t sound good. Not good at all.”

WYATT
“What are you talking about, Doctor?!”

DOCTOR
(urgently) “Come on, everyone! We have to go out but avoid being seen! Take a bottle of water each with you as we go out! Through the backdoor now.”

With that, the Doctor grabs a water bottle and heads out through the backdoor. Enid, Fred, Wyatt and Bruce soon grab a water bottle each and take them with them as they head outside to follow the Doctor.

SCENE #148 – INT – CELLAR, GLASS & HOUND – DAY, EVENING
In the Glass & Hound pub, Nyssa and Billy are led down into the cellar. They’re forcibly led by Rick and his gang.

RICK
(shouts) “Come on! Get a move on! Get down those stairs!!!”

NYSSA
(annoyed) “Alright, alright. You don’t have to be so rough with us!”

RICK
(threateningly) “Are you having a go at me, lady?!”

NYSSA
“Never mind. Just forget it.”

RICK
(threateningly) “I said…are you having a go at me?!!!”

BILLY
(warningly) “Just leave her alone, will you!”

RICK
(raises voice) “No!!! No, no, no, no!!!”

Rick then starts taking it out on Nyssa, as he hurts her and she reacts in pain.

NYSSA
“Billy, please! Make him stop!”

Nyssa struggles to break free before Billy intervenes, as he pushes Rick aside.

BILLY
(to Rick) “Stop it, you idiot! You’re hurting her!”

RICK
(yells; angrily) “I’ll kill you!!! I’ll kick your souls into blood and hell!!!”

BILLY
“Well you’re doing a bad job of it, you bully!”

RICK
(yells; angrily) “Get down there now!!! Get down or I’ll squeeze your lungs out!!!”

Nyssa and Billy eventually continue downstairs whilst being threatened. They eventually reach the bottom of the stairs and look to see two familiar faces before them.

DANNY
“Say! Is that you, young Mr. Walker?”

BILLY
(astonished) “Mr. Simmons; Mrs. Simmons. You’re down here!”

NYSSA
(relieved) “Thank goodness for some friendly faces!”

RICK
(threateningly) “Get in there, will you?!”

Rick pushes Billy and Nyssa forward, as they nearly fall into Danny and Tina who catch them.

TINA
(concerned) “Are you two alright?!”

BILLY
“Yes. As well as can be expected.”

NYSSA
(to Danny; Tina) “What about you two? How long have you been down here?”

DANNY
“Hard to tell, young lady. Possibly two hours.”

BILLY
“Two hours?! Did the Dwaxi bring you here?!”

TINA
“Certainly some big men in armoured suits came and took us away when we were visiting our little girl Lizzy.”

NYSSA
“That’ll be the Dwaxi then.”

DANNY
“There was also Maria!”

NYSSA
(startled) “Maria? Maria Black?”

BILLY
“She kidnapped you both?”

TINA
“We don’t know what’s got into her. Or where she is now. She’s just going berserk all the time and shouting her head off!”

NYSSA
“Probably Sean drugged her and told her to kidnap you I expect.”

DANNY
“Sean?! What young Mr. Sean Black?! I can’t fathom it!”

BILLY
“Nor can I. How can Sean know so much about the Dwaxi?”

NYSSA
“You heard it from his lips, Billy. He’s taken charge of the Dwaxi and serves their cause. He knows about us and the TARDIS. That must be why the TARDIS was teleported so that we wouldn’t gain access to it.”

BILLY
“I just can’t believe it! Sean, the guy I knew at school, is actually a villain?! I always thought he and I were likely lads. That there was some good in him.”

NYSSA
“I’m very sorry, Billy. This is more of a shock for you than it is for the rest of us.”

RICK
(shouts; angrily) “Shut it, you lot! Keep quiet while you’re in this cellar!”

TINA
“You leave us alone, boy! We’re terrified and we want to get out!”

RICK
“I don’t care about you!!! So zip it when I’m watching you!!!”

At that moment, Alexandra comes downstairs as she enters into the cellar. She’s stopped in her track by a few of Rick’s thugs.

ALEXANDRA
(cries; angrily) “Get out of my way, you twits! Give over!”

RICK
(bitterly) “What do you want, you witchy woman!”

DANNY
(protests) “Hey! That’s my daughter you’re talking to!”

ALEXANDRA
(surprised) “Mum; Dad?! What are you two doing down here?!”

TINA
“You may well ask. Where have you been, Alex? We’ve been waiting for help!”

ALEXANDRA
“You’ve been reported missing by the police and you end up here in my cellar?!”

DANNY
(astonished) “Is this the Glass and Hound then?”

RICK
(shouts; angrily) “Will you all shut up, you twerps!” (to Alexandra) “You! Tell me what it is you want or I’ll rip your skull out!”

ALEXANDRA
“This is my pub and I’ll do what I like in it! I will not be talked to…”

RICK
(yells) “Tell me what you want?!!! Do I have to get angrier; redder and bloodier…?!”

ALEXANDRA
(angrily) “Alright; alright! I’ll leave you lot down here to be utter idiots! I only wish to take out my anger on someone!”

DANNY
“Really, Hummingbird! This isn’t the time for domestic family debate!”

TINA
“Have you no consideration for what we’ve been through?!”

ALEXANDRA
(bitterly) “I wasn’t talking about you two! I meant him!”

BILLY
“Me?!”

NYSSA
(protests) “This isn’t Billy’s fault!”

ALEXANDRA
“And you! This is your fault too, you selfish…”

BILLY
(protests) “What’s Nyssa done?! More to the point what have we done?!”

NYSSA
“This isn’t fair, Alexandra!”

ALEXANDRA
(dismissively; upset) “You’ve ruined everything! If you hadn’t come back, if you hadn’t spoiled my life with bringing these horrible men with awful guns and hammers, then none of this would be happening! I could have had a quiet normal life without you ruining it! Especially you Billy! You’ve been a disappointment to me!”

DANNY
“Hummingbird, try to calm down…”

ALEXANDRA
(shouts; upset) “Don’t Hummingbird me, Dad! I refuse to listen to you!”

NYSSA
(pleads) “Please, Alexandra. We didn’t mean for this to happen.”

BILLY
(reassuringly) “The Doctor will sort this out, Alex. He always does…”

ALEXANDRA
(shouts; interrupts) “Shut up about the Doctor, you two! He means nothing to me! And neither do you two! You mean nothing to me in my life! Do you hear?!”

With that, Alexandra heads off back upstairs and leaves the cellar. Nyssa and Billy are put-out by Alexandra’s outburst whilst Danny and Tina are appalled. Rick and his thugs continue watching them with mocking and menacing intent.

OMG, i felt Billys pain as Sean sold him out & betrayed him, what a dramatic emotional scene Tim, written so believable & realistic that has to be one of the most powerful scenes you’ve ever written, Billys literally heartbroken & doesn’t know why Sean betrayed him.

This Alexandra stuff bit puzzling, you got me intrigued, why does she hate everyone & blame everyone?

Keiths gotta go mate, you can’t have him beating a pregnant woman without consequences, i actually want to feature in this story & punch Keith myself lol.

What a great opening chapter to episode 4, Mary Whitehouse would’ve been after your blood had this been shown on tv lol, think of the children Mr Bradley she would’ve said lol.

      Hi Simon.

Very pleased you’re enjoying ‘Part Four’ of ‘Dawn of the Dwaxi’ so far.

I’m pleased you found the scenes where Billy was heartbroken and shocked that Sean betrayed him dramatic. There is a sense of history between Billy and Sean in terms of their friendship. Billy is also naïve about Sean’s treachery, so it adds to the drama when he realises his former best friend wasn’t who he was when they grew up together at school and in Churchwood Street itself. I’m pleased you found those scenes well-written in terms of believability.

What did you make of Nyssa escaping and then getting captured again? Did you find that painful? I certainly did when I wrote those scenes. 😀

Yeah, Alexandra does seem very unreasonable in hating and blaming everyone around her. She’s clearly an unhappy person and it connects to her upbringing by her parents and how she tries to make herself impressionable to everyone. It also connects to her relationship with Billy as well as Sean, but you’ll have to find out more later on in the story.

Yeah well Rick and Keith are so completely overcome with Dwaxi ideals and influences that they have no regard for anyone, hence why Keith kicks Alexandra despite being pregnant. Will these two have a demise in the story? You’ll have to find out. 😀

What did you make of the scenes where the Doctor teamed up with Enid, Fred, Wyatt and Bruce in the chapter?

Yeah I’m sure Mary Whitehouse would have been telling me off had this story been shown on TV. The message I’m trying to convey in this story is that violence is wrong and the Dwaxi are a good example of how you shouldn’t be violent in life. I hope that message comes across in the story. ‘Dawn of the Dwaxi’ would work well as an audio drama compared to a TV story.

There’s a shocking twist yet to come in the next chapter, Simon. I hope you’re ready for it. It’ll probably change your perception on what this has all been about and why Sean has treated Billy and his friends and family so severely.

See you in the next chapter.

      Tim. 🙂
