Axos is calling Earth, as we venture into the third story of Season 8 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – ‘The Claws of Axos’. This four-part story is the first to be written by Bob Baker and Dave Martin. Once again, Jon Pertwee stars as the Third Doctor with Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Richard Franklin as Mike Yates and John Levene as Sergeant Benton. As well as Axos, this story also features Roger Delgado back again as the Master in ‘Doctor Who’. ‘The Claws of Axos’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

Welcome to the first story of Season 5 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series! 🙂 This is ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’, a four-part story where Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Frazer Hines as Jamie and Deborah Watling as Victoria visit the planet Telos where the tombs of the Cybermen are. This story was considered lost for a while before it returned to the BBC Archives in 1992. You can watch ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’ either on DVD or on Britbox.

After enjoying 1991’s ‘Five Children and It’ and 1993’s ‘The Return of the Psammead’ by the BBC over Christmas 2020, my parents and I enjoyed watching 1976’s ‘The Phoenix and the Carpet’ by the BBC. Yes, I know there’s a 1997 ‘The Phoenix and the Carpet’ by the BBC, but I’ll see it another time.
