Quick TV Series Review – ‘The Larkins’ (Series 2)

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

As well as seeing Bradley Walsh in the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘The Power of the Doctor’ this year, I’ve also seen him in Series 2 of ‘The Larkins’ on both ITV1 and Britbox. I greatly enjoyed watching Series 2 of ‘The Larkins’ after enjoying Series 1 and the Christmas Special back in 2021, which is amazing. 🙂

I was lucky in being able to see ‘The Larkins at Christmas’ on Christmas Day itself! 🙂 I was afraid I might miss it, as it clashed with the timing for the 2021 Christmas Special of ‘Call the Midwife’ on BBC One. Thankfully I was pretty lucky to see ‘The Larkins at Christmas’ on a repeat channel for ITV1.

‘The Larkins’ is a 2021 TV adaptation of the H. E. Bates novel ‘The Darling Buds of May’. I was aware of ‘The Darling Buds of May’ before checking out this series, having seen the first episode (I believe) of the 1991-93 series, which starred David Jason, Pam Ferris, Philip Franks and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

This story would’ve been fine if I hadn’t heard the Big Finish audios featuring Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor and Mary Shelley to spoil my enjoyment.
