Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Spring Bank Holiday Monday in May in the UK today, and it’s time for the first story of ‘The Black Guardian Trilogy’ in Season 20 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – ‘Mawdryn Undead’. This a four-part story by Peter Grimwade, starring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa and Janet Fielding as Tegan. As well as the return of Valentine Dyall as the Black Guardian, this story also features the return of Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier. This story also introduces us to new companion Mark Strickson as Vislor Turlough. And there’s David Collings, who guest stars as the titular Mawdryn. ‘Mawdryn Undead’ can be checked out on DVD and Britbox.

It’s time for another one of my favourite stories from the Tom Baker era of ‘Doctor Who’. It’s the fifth story of Season 14 in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and it’s called ‘The Robots of Death’, a four-part adventure by Chris Boucher, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela. There are also guest stars like David Collings, Pamela Salem, Brain Croucher and David Ballie. ‘The Robots of Death’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

We end Tom Baker’s first season of ‘Doctor Who’ by taking a look at ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’, a four-part adventure. As well as Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, there’s also Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan. This story has the Cybermen visiting the planet Voga, which is the planet of gold. ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’ can be checked out on DVD, Blu-ray and Britbox.

At last! I’ve finished seeing all of ‘Blake’s 7’ on DVD! It’s taken me a while to see all of ‘Blake’s 7’, but I’m happy to say I saw the final episode before the last day of October 2019. ‘Blake’s 7’ has been an enjoyable Sci-Fi series indeed. It has had its ups and downs, but overall it’s been pretty entertaining.
