‘Out of Time’ (Doctor Who) – Big Finish Animation

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve been revisiting ‘Out of Time’ with David Tennant and Tom Baker and I’m about to check out the other two stories in the ‘Out of Time’ trilogy in ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish. In doing so, I’ve watched an amazing full animation video by Josh Snares, which was released on YouTube this year back in April. I played the Big Finish audio on CD to synch up with the animation video. Continue reading

CD review – ‘The Doomsday Contract’ (Doctor Who)

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve had a chance to check out one of the latest ‘Lost Stories’ of ‘Doctor Who’ by Big Finish called ‘The Doomsday Contract’, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9, voiced by John Leeson. This was an enjoyable audio adventure to check out. The story is by John Lloyd, adapted by Nev Fountain. Continue reading

Short Trip – ‘The Two Sarah Janes’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s been 11 years since the day our dear Elisabeth Sladen (who played Sarah Jane Smith in ‘Doctor Who’) passed away on the 19th of April 2011. As a tribute to Lis Sladen, I’m sharing a Short Trip adventure called ‘The Two Sarah Janes’. This is also the third in a trilogy of Short Trips by me featuring James Darby, a character played by Timelord007. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #6

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And we’ve come to the end of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. To finish off, we’re taking a look at the lost story called ‘Shada’, which was meant to be the season finale to Season 17, but was cancelled due to strike action happening in 1979. My review on the original ‘Shada’ is based on the 2021 ‘definitive version’ of the story in the Season 17 Blu-ray box set. I’ve combined both my reviews on the 1992 VHS version and the 2017 movie version of the ‘Shada’ story for this review. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #5

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The Nimon be praised! 😀 Yes, it’s time for ‘The Horns of Nimon’, the fifth story featured in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure is by Anthony Read, the previous script editor of the show before Douglas Adams came along. Tom Baker is back as the Fourth Doctor, along with Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). They’re joined by the late Graham Crowden as Soldeed as well as the minotaur-like Nimons. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #4

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And we come to the fourth story in Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. It’s time for ‘Nightmare of Eden’, a four-part adventure by the late Bob Baker, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). This ‘Doctor Who’ adventure has drug-smuggling and the monstrous Mandrels in it. Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #3

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s time for the third story of Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker. Today, we take a look at ‘The Creature From The Pit’, a four-part adventure by David Fisher, starring Tom Baker and Lalla Ward, who are joined by K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). The story also features Myra Frances as Lady Adrasta, Geoffrey Bayldon as Organon and a peculiar alien creature called Erato. 😀 In terms of the story’s concepts and ideas, they’re very good. The overdose of humour and the execution of the titular ‘creature from the pit’ have a lot to be desired though. 😀 Continue reading

Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray #2

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

We continue checking out Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Blu-ray with Tom Baker by taking a look at the second story in the season called ‘City of Death’. This is my second favourite ‘Doctor Who’ story in the entire series (the first of course being ‘Black Orchid’). The story has Paris in 1979; Julian Glover as the villain; a cameo of John Cleese and Eleanor Bron; and an enjoyable comedy-drama plot by Douglas Adams, based on the ideas by David Fisher. Continue reading

Last Christmas, I received the Season 17 Blu-ray box set of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker. It’s time to check out the six stories featured in that season, as I’ve updated my reviews on them. Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ stars Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Lalla Ward as Romana and K-9 (voiced by David Brierley). Continue reading

New Anthology Release – ‘The Paul Spragg ReCollections, Volume 2’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

The Divergent Wordsmiths have done it again! 🙂 They’ve released another brand-new ‘Doctor Who’ anthology of short stories called ‘The Paul Spragg ReCollections, Volume 2′, which I’m pretty excited about. This is to honour the memory of our dear Paul Spragg, the producer’s assistant at Big Finish who sadly passed away in May 2014. Continue reading
