And Happy New Year everyone! 🙂 It’s the penultimate instalment of the 2022-23 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season today! Since it’s the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ this year, let’s revisit a Short Trips book anthology by Big Finish called ‘Short Trips: Transmissions’. One of the stories in the anthology has the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa in it.

As it’s the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ next year, it’s only fair to revisit a 50th anniversary special story of ‘Doctor Who’ in the form of the comic book adventure ‘Prisoners of Time’, featuring the first eleven Doctors and their companions. The Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and Adric appear in the fifth chapter of the graphic novel story called ‘In Their Nature’.

I know I said I was holding back on this comic con after attending ‘Collectormania 27’ in Birmingham back in September. But after seeing Jodie Whittaker (the Thirteenth Doctor) and David Tennant (the Tenth Doctor and now the Fourteenth Doctor) in the ‘Doctor Who’ BBC Centenary Special called ‘The Power of the Doctor’, I had to go to this event before 2022 was over. I’m pleased I did.

The Divergent Wordsmiths have done it again! 🙂 They’ve released another brand-new ‘Doctor Who’ anthology of short stories called ‘The Paul Spragg ReCollections, Volume 2′, which I’m pretty excited about. This is to honour the memory of our dear Paul Spragg, the producer’s assistant at Big Finish who sadly passed away in May 2014.

I’ve now read and heard the Target novelization/audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Delta and the Bannermen’ by Malcolm Kohll. The story features the Seventh Doctor and Mel meeting Delta as well as Billy, Ray, Burton, Murray, Weismuller, Hawk and Goronwy. They end up at the Shangri-La holiday camp in South Wales where Gavrok and the Bannermen attack. The audiobook for ‘Doctor Who – Delta and the Bannermen’ is read by Bonnie Langford who plays Mel in the TV series and the Big Finish audios.

Just in case you missed it yesterday, I’ve read and heard the Target novelization/audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘Dragonfire’ by Ian Briggs. The story features the Seventh Doctor and Mel who meet Ace for the first time and they reunite with Sabalom Glitz from ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’. The story also features Mel’s first departure from the TARDIS before she returned in ‘A Life of Crime’. The audiobook for ‘Doctor Who – Dragonfire’ is read by Bonnie Langford who played Mel in the TV series and she continues to play her in the Big Finish audios.
